How Does Mad Hippie AHA Exfoliating Peel Work?

As you can tell by the name of this product, it is supposed to work as a sort of liquid peel. The point of a facial peel is to gently remove the dead skin cells, contaminants, and toxins from your face.

So Mad Hippie AHA Exfoliating Peel is intended to work by having an exfoliating effect on the skin. This formula also contains essential vitamins.

These vitamins are considered by most medical authorities to be essential for skin health and may make the skin more resilient. So this product may defend your skin against photoaging as well.

Key Ingredients in Mad Hippie AHA Exfoliating Peel – Are They Safe & Effective?

To understand the true value of any beauty product, you have to know about its ingredients:

Lactic Acid

Lactic acid is a natural extract that has been observed to have exfoliating effects on the skin. The Pubmed staff also reports that it can increase skin firmness in the following quote:

Treatment with 12% lactic acid resulted in increased epidermal and dermal firmness and thickness and clinical improvement in skin smoothness.

Mallow Extract

Mallow extract comes from a flowering plant and is often used in skincare products. That’s because it has an apparent ability to increase skin thickness according to the Cosmetic Ingredient Review. It may also achieve this effect without causing side effects like irritation or redness.

Apple Stem Cells

Apple stem cells are claimed to boost skin hydration and have anti-aging effects. They may boost the function of protective skin cells to prevent future signs of aging like wrinkles and creases. However, research into the effects of apple stem cells is still in its infancy and there needs to be more high-quality studies to confirm these effects.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E, sometimes referred to as tocopherol, has long been thought of as an essential nutrient for skin health as it appears to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Its antioxidant properties help protect against free radical damage and support skin repair—benefits we’ve also seen emphasized in the Ageless II Review, where vitamin E plays a central role in promoting youthful, hydrated skin.

However, the National Institutes of Health reports that:

Despite development of new formulations for use in cosmetics and skincare products, there is a lack of controlled clinical trials providing a rationale for well-defined dosages and clinical indications for oral and topical vitamin E.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid

Alpha hydroxy acid, or ALA, is known as a substance that has photoprotective effects on the skin. It is claimed to help filter out harmful UV rays before they can cause signs of photoaging. These acids are also widely praised for their ability to gently exfoliate and promote collagen production, which supports firmer, smoother skin as noted in our Lucienne Skin Cream Reviews.

However, many test subjects in clinical studies have found that the effects are too harsh on the skin.

What Do the Mad Hippie AHA Exfoliating Peel Reviews Say?

The product received mix customer reviews. Let’s take a look at a few of them:

I love mad hippie products and at first was obsessed with this product. It made my skin very smooth. The problem is tho every time I use it a few days later I break out all over my face. I’m 24 and have hardly experienced breakouts my entire life, but for some reason this product causes me painful acne that lasts awhile. Very disappointing 🙁 –Kylee

I’ve used other Mad Hippie products, including the Vitamin C serum, eye cream and face cream and like them. Our sales rep recommended this product for dark spots and fine lines and gave me a sample to try. After just one use my face and neck broke out in a bad rash with severe itching and puffy eyes. –Mimi

I have very sensitive skin, but love the exfoliation without scrubs. This checks all the boxes!! Does a great job smoothing away dull skin without irritation to sensitive skin like mine. I am looking forward to trying other products! –Melissa

I’ve used this a little over a month in conjunction with vitamin c and vitamin a serum and my skin has cleared up so much . I get less breakouts and milia and my pores are much clearer and less bumpy . The only thing I don’t like is it contains hydrolyzed soy which is not good for people trying to avoid estrogen in their body products , please take it out and it would be perfect. –Lydia

  1. Emily Carter

Hydrating but Slow Progress on Concerns
The Mad Hippie AHA Peel does help with surface hydration and leaves skin feeling softer. But I haven’t seen major improvements in my dark spots or fine lines after several weeks of use, despite the anti-aging claims. It’s decent for basic exfoliation maintenance, but those expecting quick visible changes in pigmentation or wrinkles may find results underwhelming.
  2. Elise Harmon

Mad hippie aha peel caused more problems than it solved
I used Mad Hippie AHA Exfoliating Peel every other night for three weeks, applying 2-4 drops after cleansing. It left my skin slightly smoother, but I broke out in painful acne on my chin and cheeks days after each use. The texture felt nice, but the $29.99 price for 1.02 oz isn’t worth the irritation. I returned it within the 60-day guarantee. I won’t try it again.

Mad Hippie AHA Exfoliating Peel Review Ques and Ans

  • Q: Are Mad Hippie skincare products a good choice?

A: Mad Hippie offers natural, vegan and cruelty-free formulations at midrange prices. Customer reviews are mixed. Some users report positive results while others experience irritation. The brand suits those seeking clean beauty options with active ingredients, though individual results differ.

  • Q:Does Mad Hippie serum irritate your skin?

A: Some users report no irritation while others experience redness, breakouts or sensitivity. Well, reactions depend on individual skin tolerance and usage frequency. The company says starting slowly with once or twice weekly application helps minimize irritation for most people.

  • Q: Is Mad Hippie a safe brand?

A: Mad Hippie uses natural ingredients and avoids parabens, synthetic fragrances and harmful additives. However, natural ingredients can still cause reactions in sensitive individuals, so patch testing remains important.

  • Q: Can I use AHA peel if I have acne-prone skin?

A: AHA peels can benefit acne prone skin by exfoliating dead cells and unclogging pores. However, some users experience initial purging or breakouts and results vary some see clearer skin while others find it too harsh for active breakouts.

  • Q: Do I need to wear sunscreen with AHA peel?

A: The use of AHA products is recommended withsunscreen. Exfoliants are chemical substances that help to eliminate dead skin cells and expose the newly developed skin to the damage of the sun. Daily SPF 30 or more assists in the protection of skin and prevents the problem of excessive sensitivity and hyperpigmentation.

  • Q: Should I refrigerate AHA serum?

A: Mad Hippie AHA serum does not need refrigeration. Keep it in room temperature and dry environment not facing direct sunlight. The product is usually stable at room temperature. Read the packaging, look at the instructions to store it and the expiry dates.

  • Q: Will this product help with cystic acne?

A: AHA peels work on surface-level skin concerns rather than deep cystic acne. Some users report improvement in overall skin clarity, but cystic acne typically requires targeted treatments or professional guidance. Results for this specific concern are inconsistent among users.

  • Q: Can AHA peels fade acne scars?

A: AHA peels may improve the appearance of surface level acne scars through regular exfoliation and cell turnover. Deep or pitted scars typically require professional treatments. Visible results take several weeks to months of consistent use, varying by scar type.

  • Q: Should I still get professional peels if using this?

A: At-home AHA peels offer gentler maintenance exfoliation while professional peels provide stronger, immediate results. Some people use both at-home for regular care and professional treatments periodically for deeper concerns. Your specific skin goals determine what combination works best.
