Overview

Right around our 40th birthday, our joints start to get more finicky and achy. Some people may start feeling joint issues in their 30’s. In any case, joint issues can detriment your quality of life by keeping you from the activities you love and can detrimentally affect your health by making you a less physically active person.

That’s why there are supplements like Collanol. Collanol is not a common joint health supplement. While it may be more popular overseas than in the United States, it still hasn’t penetrated the market very deeply. Still, customers are finding their ways to Collanol and trying it out.

TL;DR

  • About 1 in 4 U.S. adults (over 58 million people) have arthritis, making joint pain and stiffness a common issue with age.
  • Collanol is a joint health supplement designed to support mobility and reduce discomfort using a blend of targeted ingredients.
  • Some users report improved flexibility and easier daily movement with consistent use, though results can vary.

That’s why we wanted to put together this Collanol review. In the following sections we will take a critical yet unbiased look at Collanol as a supplement and help you decide if it is worth your time and money. Find out everything you need to know about Collanol in the following review!

What is Collanol?

Collanol is a dietary supplement that is concerned with alleviating joint pain and improving the overall health of your joints. The makers of Collanol claim that it is a “medical breakthrough” because of the two active ingredients which they claim have no parallel in the joint health supplement market.

Collanol comes in capsule form which the company that makes Collanol claims is packed with potent ingredients that are more effective than multiple chondroitin and curcumin tablets. The main claims associated with Collanol are that it will support the normal function of the joints, and preserve natural mobility.

In other words, Collanol is a supplement that when taken consistently, is supposed to keep your joints working normally. In most cases, people have used this supplement to improve their flexibility and to make daily joint motions more comfortable.

Who is the Manufacturer of Collanol?

The company that makes Collanol is apparently called Capsugel France SAS. This is a European-based company, and they apparently hold certifications in countries such as Germany.

They also claim that they laboratory-test their products to ensure their safety and efficacy. Still, the official website for Collanol does not offer much practical information about the manufacturer.

How Does Collanol Work?

There are only two active ingredients in the Collanol formula. One of them is a form of type II collagen. Collagen is an extremely important protein for humans as it helps give shape to our muscles and forms much of the connective tissue in our joints, muscles, and skeleton.

Collanol is basically supposed to work by providing an external source of collagen to the user to supplement either damaged or worn away collagen in their joints. This may work to make daily motions more fluid and comfortable. It may also work to dispel morning joint stiffness and aching.

However, the other ingredient in the Collanol formula is rather common. So the overall effectiveness of the product may not match that of other joint supplements that contain more effective ingredients.

Collanol Ingredients: Are They Safe & Effective?

Now let’s see about the ingredients that are in Collanol:

Undenatured Type II Collagen

Undenatured type II collagen, sometimes referred to simply as UC-II collagen, is a form of collagen that is derived from chicken sternum and powdered and glycosylated in order to make it more stable. Some studies have suggested that 40 milligrams a day of undenatured type II collagen can alleviate joint pain and discomfort in patients with activity-related joint discomfort[1].

Still, this form of collagen may not actually be more effective than normal collagen as the special processing it receives really only serves to make it longer-lasting and more stable; not necessarily for making it more potent or effective.

Micellar Curcumin

Micellar curcumin is also a special form of a very common ingredient. Micellar curcumin is encapsulated in order to enhance the bioavailability of the active compound. The National Institutes of Health has stated the following about micellar curcumin[2]:

Micellar curcumin demonstrates an improved oral bioavailability but does not show anti inflammatory effects in this model.

Still, there have been some clinical studies that show that micellar curcumin might be as effective as regular curcumin for reducing inflammation in the joints that could lead to chronic arthritic conditions[3].

How to Use Collanol?

The instructions printed on the label for Collanol indicate that users should take one capsule a day with at least one glass of water. You should also ask your physician or specialist about how to take Collanol.

Benefits of Collanol

  • Long-Term Joint Health – Collanol is a supplement that actually isn’t even supposed to start working until a few months. So it is supposed to provide long-term joint support and help preserve normal joint function.
  • Reduced Joint Pain – Collanol may also work to provide moderate relief from joint pain. It may also benefit the user by reducing the effects of stiff joints in the morning. However, it may not work for severe arthritis.
  • Better Movement – If Collanol works as advertised, then it may make your joint motions more fluid and balanced. Not every Collanol user will experience these benefits however.

Collanol provides a straightforward option for supporting joint health, though results may vary.

Slight mobility boost but results took too long
I tried Collanol hoping for better joint flexibility, and I’ll say it helped a little with stiffness after a while. Movements felt slightly easier in the mornings, which was a plus. But it took way too long to notice anything, and even then the results were pretty mild. The price also feels high for something so slow. Overall, just not as effective as expected.
