In the case of women who are near menopause, symptoms of menopause may be experienced.

The menopausal symptoms include hot flashes, weight gain, vaginal dryness, mood swings, etc.

Replens
Replens – Long-lasting Vaginal Moisturizer

There are menopause supplements that are designed to alleviate the different symptoms of menopause.

There are also products that address specific menopausal symptoms.

For now, we will be taking a closer look at one such product that specifically targets vaginal dryness which usually causes discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse along with other discomforts like itching.

What is Replens?

Replens is essentially a long-lasting feminine moisturizer designed to address vaginal dryness.

According to its website, it contains a patented ingredient for soothing discomfort and providing long-lasting moisture.

According to the website of the product, it is recommended by gynecologists as among the most effective ways to address vaginal dryness.

The website also states that it has been shown to be effective through multiple clinical studies and has in fact been recommended by prestigious medical journals and popular women’s magazines.

Replens Ingredients – Are they Safe & Effective?

The ingredients of Replens include polycarbophil that is an acidic, inert, bioadhesive polymer that allows the product to attach to the walls of the vagina.

However, according to European journal of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, polycarbophil shows improved signs of bacterial vaginosis and not vaginal pH.

It also contains mineral oil, hydrogenated palm oil glyceride, glycerine, carbomer homopolymer type B, sodium hydroxide and sorbic acid.

The problem is that there is no detailed information available regarding each ingredient on the product’s website.

Also, some people may be allergic to certain ingredients like mineral oil and hydrogenated palm oil glyceride.

What are the Advantages of Replens?

  • There are several clinical studies proving the effectiveness of Replens in treating vaginal dryness
  • The product is compatible with condoms
  • It could make vaginal tissues hydrated and rejuvenated
  • May help normalize natural secretions to treat vaginal dryness

What are the Disadvantages of Replens?

  • Some people stated that the vaginal moisturizer had caused irritation because of allergy to certain ingredients
  • There is some negative customer feedback, saying it isn’t a good product
  • It only addresses vaginal dryness which is only one menopause symptom. Menopausal women will have to use other products like a supplement to address other symptoms of menopause
  • May cause residue or discharge upon initial use
  • It is not available in certain countries

    My experience with Replens
I had my hysterectomy at the age of 58. Since that time it has been completely impossible for my husband and I to have sexual intercourse. I have been put on other creams and or supplements by an OB-GYN. One caused severe nose bleeds, the other simply did not help.

I found Replens through searching the internet, and I have to say, it has restored our ability to have intercourse. Yes, there still is some pain but before this, I would have nothing to do with intimacy.

    Thank you, Replens.
