Overview

Our modern lives are rife with stress from work, school, interpersonal relationships, and distressing news reports. While a little bit of stress is normal, excessive or chronic stress can wreak havoc on your physical and mental health – reducing sleep quality, affecting your diet, and even leading to weight gain.

That’s why there are supplements like CatecholaCalm though. CatecholaCalm is a supplement that is claimed to have a beneficial effect on the way your brain manages stress. The makers say that it helps support a feeling of calm and will support normal neurotransmitter function.

In essence, CatecholaCalm is supposed to have adaptogenic effects and benefit overall cognitive health. In the following CatecholaCalm review, we will provide our readers with expert insight into this supplement including its formula, how it might work, and the consumer response.

What is CatecholaCalm?

CatecholaCalm is a natural dietary supplement that is available over-the-counter. The formula is devoid of harsh stimulants, chemical compounds, and banned substances. The makers claim that it has adaptogenic effects that can lower stress for the user and benefit their cognitive abilities.

There are also claims that CatecholaCalm will support normal moods, a feeling of tranquility, and help your brain respond to stressful situations in more effective ways. The makers of CatecholaCalm aren’t the most well-known supplement manufacturers in the industry but that hasn’t stopped consumers from giving it a try.

CatecholaCalm is marketed to people who have trouble winding down after a long stressful day and to people who want to gain a mental edge. For the most part, people take CatecholaCalm to reduce their stress and anxiety levels and to improve the quality of their sleep.

Who is the Manufacturer of CatecholaCalm?

CatecholaCalm is made by a company called Designs for Health. Designs for Health claim to have an in-house “science team” that they say helps them come up with their effective formulas.

They also claim that they put themselves to high standards of manufacturing quality by ensuring that each batch of CatecholaCalm and other supplements they make pass a rigorous quality control check.

How Does CatecholaCalm Work?

The best way to determine how a supplement might work is to look at some of the specific ingredients. In the case of CatecholaCalm, one of the main active ingredients is gamma aminobutyric acid, or GABA for short. GABA is often seen in natural sleeping aids because it has been linked to feelings of calm and relaxation.

So we can surmise that CatecholaCalm is intended to work by influencing neurotransmitters in the brain to suppress feelings of stress. An indirect effect of this may be improved sleep quality. Of course, there is always the danger that an ingredient like GABA may also cause daytime drowsiness which has been reported by some users of CatecholaCalm.

Another key ingredient in CatecholaCalm is rhodiola rosea which is an herb that has been associated with reduced stress. This ingredient has also been linked to side effects unfortunately. For instance, rhodiola may cause some users dizziness or abdominal discomfort.

CatecholaCalm Ingredients: Are They Safe & Effective?

Now let’s take a look at more ingredients in the CatecholaCalm formula:

Ashwagandha Root Extract

Ashwagandha is an ayurvedic herb that may affect a feeling of calm and relaxation for the user. Some studies have suggested that it may also have potent antioxidant properties that make it beneficial for general health. The National Institutes of Health has reported that:

Its current research covers many aspects of human health, including neuroprotective, sedative and adaptogenic effects and effects on sleep.

Magnesium

Magnesium is a mineral that plays a role in many bodily and mental functions. There have been reports that indicate that magnesium has a beneficial effect on stress levels. But these reports are based on observed low magnesium level> in people with elevated stress. So this may not actually suggest a causal relationship between low magnesium levels and high stress levels.

Lemon Balm

Lemon balm is typically used to induce a state of drowsiness and help people sleep. Some studies suggest that it can also raise GABA levels, an ingredient that is already in this formula. On the other hand, lemon balm is another ingredient that may cause daytime drowsiness.

Rhodiola Rosea

Rhodiola rosea is considered an adaptogen by many leading medical authorities. As an adaptogen, it may help reduce levels of stress and anxiety and protect neurotransmitter receptors from succumbing to inflammation. The NIH has stated in one of their studies that:

All outcome measurements showed significant, consistent and steady improvements in stress symptoms, fatigue, quality of life, mood, concentration, disability, functional impairment and an overall therapeutic effect.

GABA

Gamma aminobutyric acid is a type of amino acid that is claimed to protect neurotransmitters that are involved with stress reduction. Not all the data on this ingredient is positive though. For instance, The NIH found no solid evidence that GABA can reduce stress:

Results show that there is limited evidence for stress and very limited evidence for sleep benefits of oral GABA intake.

Depression and anxiety are common disorders that can make daily tasks extremely challenging. Some estimates allege that approximately one in ten Americans suffer from some level of depression and/or anxiety. Symptoms of anxiety and depression include ongoing feelings of sadness accompanied by unease, irritability, tension, and nervousness. While some people require medication to deal with these occasionally crippling symptoms, others may find an all-natural product helpful. An all natural relaxation supplement should promote healthy neurological function. All ingredients should be clinically proven to reduce feelings of anxiousness, sadness, unease, irritability, tension, and nervousness.

Catecholacalm felt too mild, didn’t make a big difference
CatecholaCalm mellowed people out just a tad, but not enough to call it a game changer. Many compared it to sipping lukewarm tea relaxing, sure, but not solving anything big. Most said it felt like “budget zen,” super mild and kinda slow.
