Marianne Zanko Komek has been a freelance journalist for eleven years. Prior to that, she worked as a production editor and editorial assistant to publishers in New York City.
While working at Human Sciences Press, she oversaw the production of eight scholarly journals, featuring a publication about psychology.
Marianne majored in English Literature at The College of New Jersey from which she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Afterward, she obtained a paralegal certificate from the Institute of Paralegal Studies in Rahway, New Jersey.
Marianne is very active in her parish and community and has participated in events for the disabled and has served the homeless population.
She informs others about mental health issues.
As a member of the Perth Amboy Friends of the Library, she has researched ways to bring education and recreation to disadvantaged youth in her community. The organization also sponsors authors’ readings and promotes literacy and cultural events.
She has written poetry that has been featured in the children’s magazine, St. Mary's Messenger, and is currently working on a children’s book. One of her poems was used as lyrics to a composition performed at The Manhattan School of Music.
Marianne enjoys opera, walks by the bay, and reading biographies.
