Usana BiOmega- Overview
Getting enough omega-3 fatty acids can be difficult, especially if you cannot get enough by eating fatty fish. Omega-3s are important for normal brain function, cardiovascular health, and other essential bodily processes. Another solution to boosting omega-3s is to take a supplement, and USANA BiOmega is one of those choices.
USANA BiOmega is a fish oil that is made to supply EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), two omega-3 fatty acids that are essential for a healthy cardiovascular system and normal brain function. This is a softgel version of fish oil, which is easy to add to a daily nutrition regimen.
When looking at different omega-3 supplements, these factors can help determine which supplement will be best for you: Concentration of EPA/DHA, size of the dosage, quality of the ingredients, and price. We’ll take a detailed look at these aspects to help consumers better understand the formulation of BiOmega and how it contrasts with other omega-3 supplements offered in the market.

How Does Usana Biomega Work?
USANA BiOmega is intended to be used as an omega-3 fatty acid and Vitamin D3 supplement. Once ingested, its fish oil is broken down, and EPA and DHA are absorbed and utilized in normal physiological processes. These fatty acids are parts of cell membranes and play a role in many areas, such as the brain and cardiovascular system. Vitamin D3 is activated and metabolized by the body and helps maintain calcium absorption and normal bone and muscle function. Lemon oil is added for flavour.
The effect of the supplement on your health will vary depending on your diet and nutritional requirements. The formulation itself doesn’t suggest that BiOmega will bring measurable benefits to memory or cardiovascular health, however.
Usana Biomega Ingredients – Are They Safe & Effective?
The supplement works by nourishing your body with the necessary nutrients to keep you healthy and active. The product claims to be rich in Omega-3s that can offer you some health benefits.
Usana Biomega Supplement Facts
Fish Oil (2,000 mg per serving)
Fish oil includes omega-3s, which are critical for normal cell function and cardiovascular health. Omega-3 fatty acids can help reduce triglyceride levels, but the effects vary based on dosage and the health of the user, according to the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements.
EPA, Eicosapentaenoic Acid (660 mg)
EPA is an omega-3 fatty acid that plays a role in regulating inflammatory signalling. It has been studied for its ability to reduce high triglycerides, but the results of prescription formulations of EPA may not be the same for all fish oil supplements.
DHA, Docosahexaenoic Acid (440 mg)
DHA is an important structural component of the brain and retina. It plays a role in the normal development of the brain and the visual system, especially in early life and during pregnancy. But the findings of DHA supplementation on memory among healthy adults are not convincing, as discussed in this review of EPA and DHA’s health effects.
Vitamin D3 / Cholecalciferol (200 IU)
Vitamin D3 is involved in calcium metabolism and promotes normal bone, muscle, and immune health. It offers a reasonable amount of vitamin D at 200 IU (5 mcg). The NIH vitamin D fact sheet provides details on the nutritional roles and recommendations for vitamin D intake.
Mixed Tocopherols and Lemon Oil
Mixed tocopherols are types of vitamin E that can potentially help to prevent fish oil from oxidizing. A 2015 study highlights the importance of considering oxidation in fish oil products.
Lemon oil is used mainly for flavour and can help to minimise the fishy aftertaste. Not a major contributor to the nutritional value of the supplement.
The omega-3 plays vital roles in many body processes to help your body to perform at peak performance. The Manufacturer also claims the supplement is important for healthy pregnancies.
Benefits of Usana Biomega?
- Helps Maintain Cardiovascular Health: EPA and DHA are essential for normal cardiovascular function. Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to lower high triglyceride levels, but this depends on dosage and formulation.
- Contributes to Normal Brain Function: DHA is an important structural component of the brain. But there is no conclusive evidence that supplementation will help with memory in healthy adults.
- Supports Normal Visual Function: DHA is a structural component of the retina and has been shown to be involved in normal visual development during early life.
- Acts as an Antioxidant in the Formula: The mixed tocopherols can help keep the fish oil from oxidizing and help maintain product quality. This is a benefit of the formulation and not a health benefit.
How to Use Usana Biomega?
For use as a dietary supplement, take two softgels once daily. Swallow the softgels whole with a glass of water, preferably with a meal, to help minimize any digestive upset or fishy aftertaste. Follow the directions of the manufacturer and do not take more than the suggested dose without consulting a doctor.
Use as directed as part of your daily routine and combined with your balanced diet. If you are pregnant, nursing, on blood-thinning medication, or allergic to fish, check with your healthcare provider before taking this supplement. Read the label for any additional precautions.

What Customers Are Saying About Usana BiOmega
This supplement has received both positive and negative reviews from multiple customers.
I’ve been taking USANA BiOmega as part of my daily supplement routine. The softgels are easy to take, and I like that the formula provides EPA and DHA along with vitamin D3. Overall, I’m satisfied with the product so far.~ Marcella
I was hesitant to try fish oil supplements because of the unpleasant aftertaste I’ve experienced with other products. BiOmega has been a better experience for me, and I appreciate the lemon flavor. It’s a convenient option for adding omega-3s to my diet.~ Ben
USANA BiOmega seems like a decent supplement, but the price is higher than I expected for a product I would need to buy regularly. I would appreciate more affordable multi-bottle packages or discounts for repeat purchases.~ Kevin
I like the idea of getting EPA, DHA, and vitamin D3 in one supplement, but I would prefer clearer information about the formula and how it compares with other fish oil products. The price also makes me want to compare a few alternatives before buying again. ~ Diana
Overall, USANA BiOmega may suit those seeking omega-3 supplementation, but its price and individual needs are worth considering before purchasing.
Safety and Side Effects
Side effects of using USANA BiOmega can include fishy aftertaste, heartburn, nausea, diarrhea, or other digestive discomfort. Some individuals may be at risk of bleeding or developing atrial fibrillation, a heart condition, if they take high levels of omega-3 fatty acids. Take 2 softgels per day as recommended by the manufacturer and do not exceed unless instructed by a healthcare provider.
Users of anti-clotting medications or any medications that affect blood clotting, pregnant or lactating women, should seek the advice of a health care provider first. People with any medical conditions should also consult their doctor before taking the supplement, as there may be potential risks.
Is Usana BiOmega a Scam or Legit?
While it may seem like a genuine omega-3 supplement, it is important to not presume the effectiveness of USANA BiOmega. It has fish oil, EPA and DHA, as well as vitamin D3, but buyers need to check the label and quantity of ingredients before buying.
While there are some scientific studies that support the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, they cannot guarantee any noticeable effect from the product itself. Customer reviews can give you some idea of taste and ease of use, but they cannot ensure health benefits.
Overall, there is not enough evidence to put BiOmega down as a scam. But the price, side effects on the digestive system, and some side effects on the individual should be taken into account. Check the EPA and DHA levels of the product and make a comparison before purchasing.
