Overview
While many people in the U.S. consider the quality of drinking water to be safe, it often contains contaminants like PFAs and other harmful compounds that could cause health issues and reduce fertility. According to toxicologist Dr. Jamie DeWitt,
There’s been almost no place scientists have looked where they have not found PFAs.
Cloud RO by Cloud Water Filters is an easy-to-install, NSF-certified reverse osmosis water filtration system that removes 99% of contaminants from your drinking water, including PFAS, heavy metals, fluoride, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and more. It also adds essential trace minerals to provide you with pure, alkaline, toxin-free water at all times.
How effective is it, and how does it compare to other water filtration systems? In this review, we explore the key features, pros and cons, and functioning of Cloud RO, to help you decide if it’s the optimal solution to clean drinking water in your home.
What is Cloud RO?
Cloud RO is a reverse osmosis filtration system for home use that is easy to install, has a compact design, and removes 99% of contaminants from your drinking water. The system is made of BPA-free food food-grade plastic, and it connects easily to the water supply under your sink. It is hooked to a lead-free, stainless steel faucet on your countertop and has an internal hydraulic pump that monitors water pressure.
Once the water is filtered, it flows into a 2.8-gallon tank to provide you with clean water whenever you require it. The water flow is twice as powerful as most tankless filters, filling a 10oz glass in under 6 seconds.
The Cloud RO system contains 4 filters:
- Sediment Filter – Removes dirt, rust, and debris
- Carbon Block Filter – Eliminates VOCs and chemical contaminants
- Reverse Osmosis Membrane – Filters PFAs, pharmaceuticals, fluoride, and heavy metals
- Remineralizing Post Filter – Boosts PH levels and adds trace minerals like potassium, magnesium, and calcium, helping to prevent electrolyte imbalances and keeping your alkaline levels at 8pH at all times.
Cloud RO contains a battery-powered, built-in monitor with internal sensors that keep track of water quality and usage. It is connected to a Bluetooth app that provides you with updates, and even reminds you when your filters need to be changed.

About the Brand
The manufacturer of Cloud RO is Cloud Water Filters, founded in 2020 by Ben Zvaifler and Nick Braun and headquartered in San Diego, California. The company’s mission is to offer a smart water home filtration system that provides individuals with clear, pure, safe, mineral-rich drinking water free of harmful toxins.
Cloud Water Filters places safety at a high priority, including internal sensors in their device that track water quality and alkaline levels and provide updates and safety notifications via a Bluetooth app.
In addition, the Cloud RO system is NSF-58 certified, which is the gold standard for water filtration systems, and independently third-party tested to NSF 42, 53, 58
& 401 standards.
How Does Cloud RO system Work?
The Cloud RO system connects to the water supply in your home, and the filtered water flows out via the faucet that comes with the system. The battery and the filters connect to the base, and the sediment, carbon block, and reverse osmosis filters work to remove 99% of dirt, PFAs, chemical contaminants, pharmaceuticals, and other harmful agents from your drinking water.
A review article published in the International Journal of Advanced Research in Chemical Science discusses the applications and efficacy of reverse osmosis in technology in purifying drinking water.
Following decontamination, the remineralizing post-filter adds healthy minerals like potassium, magnesium, and calcium so you have pure, alkaline water in your tank. A study published in Water Research concluded that remineralizing water after reverse osmosis can significantly improve drinking quality.
The clean water flows out of the faucet, and the internal hydraulic pump monitors water pressure to ensure a steady, strong flow. Internal sensors track your water usage and quality, which you can monitor via the Bluetooth app.
Benefits of Cloud RO
What are the main advantages of the Cloud RO system, and why should you consider installing it in your home? These are the key benefits:
- Helps Decontaminate Your Water Supply – The Cloud RO filters help remove 99% of harmful contaminants and toxins from your water supply, helping to prevent related health and fertility issues.
- Helps Increase Water Pressure – The internal hydraulic pump monitors water pressure so you have a strong, steady stream, more powerful than many water filtration systems on the market.
- Helps Lower Your Water Bill – The system offers a ratio of one gallon of filtered water to 1 gallon of wastewater. This 1:1 ratio is more efficient than many competing systems and may help lower the cost of your water bill.
- Helps Remineralize Your Water – After filtering contaminants, the remineralizing post-filter increases PH levels by adding needed minerals like calcium, magnesium, and potassium for pure, alkaline water. This can help prevent electrolyte imbalance and help minimize other health risks.
- Allows You to Monitor Water Quality and PH – The Bluetooth app provides you with data about usage and quality, so you can ensure that your water supply is pure and at optimal PH levels.
How to Use Cloud RO?
Cloud RO is relatively easy to install, and many individuals find they can easily do it themselves without a plumber. In addition, the company provides detailed video instructions as to installation and use. To install Cloud RO, you will need the following:
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Adjustable Wrench
- ¼” Drill Bit
- 1/8” Drill Bit (Optional – Used For Pilot Hole)
- Power Drill
- Scissors
- Towel(s)
While you should follow the video instructions carefully for a successful installation, the basic installation involves these basic steps:
- Turn off the water supply.
- Drill a hole in your countertop to attach the faucet.
- Install the T-valve and drain clamp.
- Connect the filter packages and battery to the magazine, which is the main unit.
- Using the silicone tubes that come with the system, connect the holding tank, RO faucet, and water supply.
- Turn on your cold water supply, and use the small arm to let water into the system.
- Open up the system, and wait for water to flow.
- Let the tank fill, and drain it 3 times to flush it before it’s ready for use.
After installation, use the faucet for clean, filtered, alkaline water at all times. When the tank is empty, refilling it takes about an hour. Don’t forget to connect to the app, which gives you updates as to water quality and PH level, and provides reminders when you need to replace your filters.
Effectiveness Over Time
According to feedback from users, the Cloud RO system continues to perform well over time, as long as you ensure proper maintenance and upkeep. Generally speaking, the filters and battery should be replaced once a year, but it varies depending on consumption and how the water quality holds up.
Fortunately, the system monitors water quality and usage and lets you know via the app when it’s time for new filters or a battery change. This is one of the great advantages of the system and helps ensure optimal performance over time.
Like all reverse osmosis systems, the tank also requires replacement every few years, as its pressure and performance can decline over time leading to weaker water flow.
The system is covered by a one-year warranty, but if you keep up optimal maintenance Cloud RO should function well for years without the need for a complete replacement of the system.
What is the Cloud RO Warranty and Return Policy?
Warranty
The company offers a 12-month warranty on the Cloud RO water filtration system, which covers manufacturing defects and any cosmetic or performance flows that occur during production.
The policy is only valid if the system is used with parts and components provided by the company, and does not cover filters or damage due to not replacing filters. To make a claim, contact customer service at support@cloudwaterfilters.com
Return Policy
Cloud Water Filters also offers a generous 1-year satisfaction guarantee on your device. If you are dissatisfied with Cloud RO, contact customer service and follow their instructions for returning the system within a year of the purchase. As long as the device arrives undamaged and in working condition, they promise a full refund of the purchase price.
Price and Value for Money
Cloud RO is available for purchase on the official website, although you can sometimes find it on Amazon, although you can find it on Walmart also.
The regular cost of the Cloud RO water filtration system is $749, but is often discounted and is available at the moment for a bargain price of $599. This makes it less expensive than many competing systems, which often run between about $1000-$2000.
Cloud RO is great value for the cost considering the superior filtration system, ease of installation, and other benefits like water testing and indications via the Bluetooth app.
Approximately once a year you’ll have to change the 4 filters and battery, at $200 for the complete set of 5. This is approximate, but the app provides a filter replacement notification letting you know when they need to be changed.

One of the top Cloud RO reviews on the official site comes from Hannah W., who describes the benefits of the system for her and her family in detail:
I have had my cloud filter under the sink for over a year now and I absolutely love it! There is so much to say about this awesome system. Refer to my photo for the scale if you are curious about how it fits into one side under the sink.
The 2-gallon tank sits perfectly behind the filters. Installation was straightforward and easy enough with two people. I love that I can monitor my system with the app to ensure I’m getting the best quality water. It’s also enlightening to understand the toxins that exist in your tap. I am so much happier knowing I have this system and find myself drinking more water.
With a household of 3 that uses this water for daily drinking water, watering plants, and cooking, we just need to purchase replacements a year and a half in. Thank you Cloud Water Filters! I highly recommend this product!
User Daniel H, also rates the system 5 stars, noting that there was a water pressure issue in his building that the company solved easily:
This is one of the better RO systems I have owned over the years. Installation was easy (the YouTube video was super helpful!). Filtered water quality is really good with the Cloud RO system.
I had some water pressure issues (continued to have bubbles in my water) and I live in a condo building (so cannot adjust the water pressure). I reached out to Cloud customer service and they were helpful by suggesting a water pump, which solved the problem.
The only negative review is from Michael G. on Amazon, who rates Cloud RO 2 stars and explained that his system does not perform optimally:
I purchased this system less than a year ago. It started to give me issues on the first day. The customer support was ok. They tried to resolve the problem. Replaced the part of the system. The issue was the quality of the water.
A year later, the problem is solved, no water coming out of the system at all and the app doesn’t seem to be supported any longer. I’m cutting my losses and moving on to something hopefully better.
