About the Brand

The manufacturer of Megawatt V2 is 1st Phorm, a health and wellness company located in Saint Louis, Missouri. Founded in 2008, they produce and sell mostly sports nutrition, weight loss, and related products, as well as some food products and sports apparel.

How Does It Work?

Megawatt V2 has ingredients which stimulate the mitochondria of the cells to synthesize additional ATP (adenosine triphosphate), powering all of the cells in the body. The extra cellular energy improves muscle contraction, promotes growth, and helps speed up repair.

A review published in Muscles by Stephen E. Alway, et al examined the role of the mitochondria in the mediation of muscle repair [1].

The formula has amino acids which increase levels of nitric oxide in the body, which as we said in our review of Torroband Nitric Shock Fruit Punch, improves circulation. The added blood flow brings needed oxygen and nutrients to the muscles to promote growth and strength.

A research review published by Jonathan S. Stamler and Gerhard Meissner in Physiological Reviews examined the physiology of nitric oxide in the skeletal muscles [2].

Megawatt V2 has a lot of caffeine, which stimulates the central nervous system for added energy, improved exercise performance, and sharper mental focus and alertness. It also speeds up the metabolism, which could promote fat burning and weight loss.

This supplement is high in anti-inflammatory agents, which help decrease swelling in the muscles for faster recovery after exercise. It also has a wealth of antioxidants which eliminate free radicals, for a decline in oxidative stress levels.

The result is a stronger immune system, and general healing and repair in the muscles and in the rest of the body. A review by Emma O’Connor, Toby Mündel, and Matthew J. Barnes published in Nutrients explored the use of nutritional compounds in post-exercise recovery [3].

What Are the Ingredients?

These are some of the primary active 1st Phorm Megawatt V2 ingredients:

Creatine Monohydrate – Creatine is an organic compound which many consider to be the best supplement for exercise endurance. As it increases levels of ATP in the body it fuels your muscles, for improved growth and strength. In addition, it may help slow muscles loss in people as they age.

A review of clinical trials on creatine supplementation published in Nutrients by Shih-Hao Wu, et al concluded that it was an efficient way to build muscles in healthy young people [4].

Caffeine Anhydrous – This is caffeine with all of the liquid removed, which makes it much stronger than regular caffeine. As a central nervous system stimulant, caffeine may increase energy levels, sharpen mental focus, and, as we mentioned in our review of Crazy Nutrition, enhance exercise performance.

A study published in the European Journal of Sports Science by Eric T. Trexler, et al concluded that caffeine and caffeine anhydrous were suitable pre-workout sources for people doing high-intensity exercise [5].

Caffeine also speeds up the metabolism, which could put the body into thermogenesis for rapid fat burning and weight loss.

Beta Alanine – This is an amino acid which already exists naturally in the body, and it helps to synthesize carnosine. This compound is key in improving muscle endurance during a high-intensity workout and preventing muscle fatigue.

Beta-alanine is also rich in antioxidants which support a strong immune system. A 5-week randomized, controlled study on healthy individuals published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition by José Luis Maté-Muñoz, et al concluded that supplementation with beta-alanine improved power output [6].

    1st Phorm Megawatt V2
This 1st Phorm Megawatt V2 is amazing. I switched from a few different brands that I liked but wanted something new and whoa. I’m usually pretty sensitive to caffeine so I was a little nervous BUT…no jitters. I will buy it again!
