How Does Hydra Gel 24/7 Essential Moisture Work?

One need only read the name of this product to know how it’s supposed to work. The main goal of this skincare product is to help keep the skin hydrated. So how exactly does it go about doing that? How does Hydra Gel 24/7 Essential Moisture keep your skin properly hydrated?

Mainly, through the use of natural moisturizing agents. For example, one of the key components of the Hydra Gel 24/7 Essential Moisture formula is shea butter. Shea butter is a natural botanical extract that has been lauded for its naturally potent hydrating qualities.

Some studies have confirmed that topical shea butter application increases skin moisture and helps prevent signs of skin damage and skin-aging. On the other hand, anyone considering buying and using Hydra Gel 24/7 Essential Moisture should know that ingredients like shea butter have also been known to cause breakouts because of its lingering residue and sometimes greasy consistency.

Key Ingredients in Hydra Gel 24/7 Essential Moisture

Now let’s take a look at the ingredients that are in Hydra Gel 24/7 Essential Moisture:

Jojoba Seed Oil

One of the claims made by the manufacturers of Hydra Gel 24/7 Essential Moisture is that it will increase skin elasticity and jojoba seed oil may be the ingredient that backs that claim up. According to the National Institutes of Health:

Skin indentation tests showed that the oil enhanced skin elasticity, similar to the effect of lanolin.

Sugar Cane Extract

Sugar cane extract is sometimes used in cosmetic products as an exfoliant. It may help slough away dead skin cells and remove deep-seated dirt from pores. The NIH has also stated that sugar cane extract products may have antioxidant and anti-aging properties, but a downside as well as we read in the following study quote:

Therefore, it can be concluded that the SSE (sugarcane straw extract) ingredient holds anti-aging properties, albeit with limited penetration into deeper skin layers.

Orange Peel Extract

Orange peel extract is known for containing a high level of antioxidants and flavonoids. One such flavonoid, known as hesperidin, is considered to have great potential health benefits for skin including the reduction of signs of hyperpigmentation. However, more studies need to be conducted to determine the mode of action and safety of orange peel use for skin.

Lemon Peel Extract

Lemon peel, much like orange peel, contains natural flavonoids and antioxidants such as vitamin C that may help reduce the likelihood of developing photoaging spots. Lemon peel extract may be too harsh for some users’ skin though and cause side effects like redness, sensitivity, and general irritation.

Shea Butter

Oil taken from the nuts of African Shea trees is commonly used in cosmetic products for its hydrating qualities. And while shea may help lock in moisture on the skin, it may also irritate burned or otherwise compromised skin. The consistency of shea butter has also been known to cause breakouts.

Good texture but not enough hydration..
Been using it for 4 weeks. Before, I had dry patches and dull skin. After using this, my skin feels softer for a few hours, then goes back to feeling tight and thirsty. I love the lightweight feel, but the hydration doesn’t last. It’s okay, but nothing impressive.
