How Does SkinCeuticals LHA Cleansing Gel Work?

As skin ages, it becomes more prone to breakouts due to a loss of moisture and a slowdown in the cell turnover cycle. This causes a buildup of dead skin cells, which clog pores and cause breakouts. For this reason, daily cleansing and exfoliation are effective in decongesting pores and removing excess sebum as well as dead skin cells. This is exactly what SkinCeuticals’ LHA Cleansing Gel does. It provides exfoliation and hydration, which help address breakouts and skin ageing at the same time.

Furthermore, this exfoliating cleanser gel contains super ingredients that have been scientifically proven to be effective. Ingredients such as LHA, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid are known to be effective where peeling is concerned. These ingredients not only remove dead skin cells and excess oils, but they also help fade fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, these ingredients target hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration, which are also major skin concerns for users.

SkinCeuticals LHA Cleansing Gel Ingredients – Are they Safe and Effective?

LHA

– Lipo-hydroxy acid (capryloyl salicylic acid) is a derivative of salicylic acid which helps promote cell turnover due to its exfoliating activities. It is also claimed to unclog pores. In the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, LHA was considered an effective and safe peel in reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.[1]

Glycolic Acid

– This component is the most commonly used alpha hydroxy acid in chemical peels since it is simple, affordable, and has no downtime. Fruit peel is another name for it. Dermatology research in the fields of clinical, aesthetic, and investigative claims that glycolic acid peels have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and keratolytic properties.[2]

Propylene Glycol

– This polymer functions as a solvent, humectant, skin conditioner, and viscosity reducer. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review states that propylene glycol is safe to use because it doesn’t irritate or sensitise the skin.[3]

Sorbitol

– This ingredient is primarily used as a humectant, sweetener, and thickener. It works as a conditioning agent that helps reduce moisture loss on the skin and hair. According to the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, sorbitol attracts water from the dermis to epidermis which keeps the skin hydrated.[4]

Salicylic Acid

– This ingredient has been used in the treatment of various skin disorders for over two millennia. Its ability to exfoliate the stratum corneum makes it a good peeling agent. Clinical, cosmetic, and investigative dermatology claim that salicylic acid is useful for patients with acne, melasma, freckles, photodamage, and lentigines.[5]

I wasn't expecting this from Skinceuticals LHA Cleansing Gel
I was hesitant in trying this gel, mainly because it was my mother’s and she doesn’t like it when I use her things, but also because the ‘Anti-Aging’ scared me. When I try anti-aging products they are usually thick, greasy, and make me break out easily. However, this moisturizer, oh God, absorbs so quickly and leaves your skin so soft! You can notice how effective it is in a few days too. I am definitely buying one for myself!
  2. Rachael Valarie

Best product and it absorbs quickly
This serum is the best I have used in ages. I started using anti-aging products while in my thirties. I am now 50 and as expected, I have come across dozens of products. I actually feel pretty experienced as I have applied most of the serum products out there! One year ago I discovered Skinceuticals LHA Cleansing Gel and I don’t think I will stop using it any time soon. This product is amazing and it absorbs pretty fast. The best part is that it doesn’t react negatively with my moisturizers or the other products I use on my face. There is definitely no way I will stop using this incredible product. I love Skinceuticals LHA Cleansing Gel!
  3. Bella Hill

    Worth the price
A friend of mine first told me about Skinceuticals LHA Cleansing Gel. She raved about it, saying that it was the best serum she had ever tried and that I needed to start using it. When I looked it up, I was a bit shocked at the price, to be honest. It was more expensive than any other product that I used for my face. I had always just used your typical moisturizers and night creams to keep my face healthy. I’ve never really done anything in the way of anti-aging. I thought my normal beauty routine would keep my face looking young on its own.

It wasn’t until months later that my friend asked me again if I had tried Skinceuticals LHA Cleansing Gel. I said no and she gave me her remaining supply. I tried to give it back to her but she insisted. So at that point, I pretty much had to try it, right? I was hooked after the first night that I put it on my face. It made my skin look and feel healthier and brighter than any other product I had ever used. It was definitely a game-changer. The next time I saw my friend I gave her back the bottle of Skinceuticals LHA Cleansing Gel she let me try because I’d already ordered my own supply. It’s definitely worth the cost!

    Perfect gentle and effective cleanser
Love this cleanser. It leaves my skin soft and refreshed without making my skin dry and irritated.
  5. Katie Forrester

    The cream helps feel fresh
I loved the packaging it was too cute and I was excited to open the box, this had a pleasant smell that that wonderful and it felt really nice on my face.
