Overview

You just finished your steak, and now there’s that familiar feeling: a little something stuck between your teeth. You’re having a bit of trouble taking it out.

You reach for the floss, but it’s the same old story: it either shreds, slips, or just won’t do much.

Cocofloss could help. This floss claims to scrub away plaque with over 500 woven fibers designed to grab and lift plaque. It’s infused with coconut oil and a refreshing mint scent that is gentle on your gums but tough on buildup.

Let’s see what Cocofloss is all about.

What Is Cocofloss Woven Dental Floss?

Cocofloss Woven Dental Floss claims to fix the buildup of plaque that regular brushing often misses. It features over 500 interwoven fibers that expand as you floss. These are meant to clean more thoroughly by grabbing and lifting plaque from between your teeth.

The floss is infused with coconut oil and a mint scent, which the manufacturer hopes will provide a soothing and refreshing experience while being gentle on your gums.

Its unique texture is intended to adapt to tight spaces. Cocofloss is also marketed as BPA, PFAS, parabens, and cruelty-free.

About the Manufacturer

Cocolab was started by two sisters, one a dentist, the other an artist, who wanted to make oral care easy. They’re based in the U.S. and claim to create products that feel good to use while being effective. Their floss, for example, is designed to clean better and be more fun, but it’s not the cheapest option out there.

They also care about the planet, using recycled materials and offering refills to cut down on waste. It’s a brand with heart, though the price might make some think twice.

How Does Cocofloss Woven Dental Floss Work?

Cocofloss uses hundreds of tiny, woven fibers to scrub away plaque from between your teeth.

The fibers expand as you floss, which helps them reach more surfaces and grab onto buildup. It’s coated with coconut oil and a bit of wax, so it slides easily but still feels textured enough to clean. The floss fits into tight spaces, which is good for different types of teeth.

It’s also marketed as free from harsh chemicals like BPA and PFAS. The company claims it removes more plaque than regular floss picks, and many users say their teeth feel cleaner after using it.

What Makes Up Cocofloss Woven Dental Floss – Are They Safe & Effective?

Woven Fibers

Cocofloss is made with 500 tiny, woven fibers that expand as you use it. These fibers are designed to grab onto plaque and pull it away, even from those tight, hard-to-reach spots. It’s not smooth like regular floss, which makes it feel like it’s actually doing something.

Coconut Oil

The floss is coated with coconut oil, which gives it a smooth glide and a soothing feel. It’s gentle on your gums but still feels like it’s working. Plus, it leaves a light, fresh sensation that makes flossing a little less annoying[1].

Microcrystalline Wax

A thin layer of wax helps the floss slide into tight spaces without shredding. It’s subtle but makes a big difference when you’re trying to get between snug teeth.

Recycled Materials

The floss is made from recycled water bottles, which is a nice touch if you’re trying to cut down on waste. A small step, but it feels good knowing it’s not adding to the problem.

BPA and PFAS-Free

There are no harsh chemicals like BPA or PFAS in the floss. If you’re someone who worries about what’s in your products, this might give you some peace of mind.

How to Use Cocofloss Woven Dental Floss?

Step 1: Pull and Cut
Start by pulling out about 18 inches of floss. You don’t need to measure, but make sure it’s enough to wrap around your fingers comfortably. Snap it off using the built-in cutter on the dispenser.

Step 2: Wrap and Position
Wrap the floss around your middle fingers, and leave only a few inches to work with. Use your thumbs and index fingers to guide it. Make sure it’s taut but not cutting into your fingers.

Step 3: Floss Gently
Slide the floss between your teeth, curving it into a ‘C’ shape around each tooth. Move it up and down to clean the sides. Don’t rush; take your time, especially around tight spots. Repeat for each tooth.

Benefits Of Cocofloss Woven Dental Floss

  • Thorough plaque removal: The floss has hundreds of tiny fibers that expand as you use it. This helps it grab onto plaque and pull it out, even from spots that are hard to reach.
  • Feels gentle on gums: It’s coated with coconut oil for smoother flossing. If your gums are sensitive, this might make the process a bit more bearable.
  • Eco-friendly design: The floss is marketed as made from recycled water bottles, which is good if you’re trying to cut down on waste.
  • Does not contain harsh chemicals: Cocofloss claims it does not contain any potentially harmful chemicals.

Safety Of Cocofloss Woven Dental Floss

Cocofloss does not contain any BPA, PFAS, or other chemicals people try to avoid. It’s also marketed as vegan and cruelty-free. The floss is made from recycled materials, so it feels like a safer choice for both you and the planet. It’s not FDA-approved, but it’s marketed as gentle enough for sensitive gums.

Some users say it feels thicker than regular floss, but others seem to like how it works. Still, it’s always a good idea to check with your dentist.

What Do Cocofloss Woven Dental Floss Reviews Say?

Here are some of the top comments from previous users on Amazon;

this is the worst floss we’ve ever had and beside that it’s expensive!! Don’t buy it – the advertisement makes it sound wonderful but it’s not – we’ll stick with the Oral B or Reach. If i could give a half star i would do it. – Jeffrey S. Curl.

Not for people with tight teeth. I wanted this to be the best floss. I bought it because it got a great review in New York Times Wire Cutter, especially about shredding. But it shredded after only a couple of teeth. – JanaYama.

Although I kind of like this floss, and it was recommended by my dental hygienist to clean the areas where I have a larger space between certain teeth, it’s too thick for other areas that are a tight fit. It’s clean (meaning it has no PFAS and creepy chemicals), so that’s good. But it’s too expensive to continue to use. I have another brand that I prefer that’s thinner, easy to use, and also has no PFAS chemicals in it. – SandC.

Cocofloss Woven Dental Floss Review – Conclusion

Cocofloss impressed us with its unique design and focus on effective cleaning. The textured fibers and coconut oil is unique, if you’re all about thorough plaque removal and a gentle feel. Its eco-conscious use of recycled materials is also impressive and friendly to the environment.

That said, the floss’s thickness is not for everyone, especially those with tight teeth, and it’s more expensive than many alternatives. While the flavors and materials are carefully chosen, they may not work for users with specific sensitivities or allergies. We recommend checking out alternatives.

    Too thick for tight teeth
I liked the minty smell and the floss definitely feels premium, but it was honestly too thick for the tight spaces between my teeth. It was difficult to use comfortably and sometimes felt rough on my gums. While it does clean well in wider gaps, it’s not ideal for everyone. For the price, I expected something easier to use and more versatile than regular floss options.
