What is Palmers Fade Cream?

Palmer’s Fade Cream is a skincare product that is meant to be applied directly to affected areas of the skin. Each container of Palmer’s Fade Cream holds 2.7 ounces of the serum. There is also a 4.4-ounce container available on the official Palmer’s Fade Cream website.

For the most part, Palmer’s Fade Cream is used to improve the complexion of the user by reducing the visible signs of hyperpigmentation and photoaging. The key ingredients in Palmer’s Fade Cream – vitamin C, retinol, and others – may also provide antioxidant support for the user’s skin.

The makers of Palmer’s Fade Cream claim that their product will improve the appearance of your skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, balance your overall complexion, and nourish the skin. Most people use Palmer’s Fade Cream to try to fade dark spots that have accumulated over the years.

Who is the Manufacturer of Palmer’s Fade Cream?

Palmers is the name of the company that produces Palmer’s Fade Cream. The official Palmers website claims that the company was founded more than 175 years ago and was one of America’s first skincare companies.

The motto of the Palmers company is “Choose What’s Real,” an indication that they emphasize natural ingredients even though they use many synthetic ones. The company emphasizes sustainable manufacturing practices and is known for its cocoa butter.

How Does Palmers Fade Cream Work?

The general purpose of Palmer’s Fade Cream is to eliminate unsightly dark spots and blemishes on your face and neck. So, how exactly does Palmer’s Fade Cream go about fading these kinds of spots? One explanation may come in the form of retinol. Retinol is a vitamin that has been observed to speed up skin cell turnover rates.

When your skin is damaged by the sun and pigmented, the skin cells are affected. These affected skin cells need to be replaced by new, healthy skin cells to reduce the appearance of dark spots. Because retinol may speed up the cell turnover process, it may also hasten the fading of dark spots and blemishes.

There are also claims that Palmer’s Fade Cream will work to improve your overall complexion by providing antioxidant support for your skin. While antioxidants are important for overall skin health and resilience, they may not actually have visible effects on your complexion.

Palmers Fade Cream Ingredients: Are They Safe & Effective?

Let’s take a look at the key active ingredients in Palmer’s Fade Cream:

Niacinamide

Niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3 and is often used in skincare products as an anti-aging ingredient. There is a limited basis for this assertion, though. While some studies suggest that

The study revealed that a topical niacinamide-containing product provided an array of effects on facial skin, improving the appearance of texture, hyperpigmentation,

The effects are not universal, and other studies have found that niacinamide has minimal positive effect on skin.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is known for its immunity-boosting ability, but it is also a potent antioxidant that may hold some benefits for the skin as well. The Harvard Health staff has reported that Vitamin C has displayed the ability to slow skin aging and prevent dark spots. However, more testing is needed to confirm the efficacy of Vitamin C in this regard.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is another antioxidant that has been used in skincare products for many decades. According to the Linus Pauling Institute:

Vitamin E has been considered an anti-inflammatory agent in the skin, as several studies have supported its prevention of inflammatory damage after UV exposure.

On the other hand, excessive use of Vitamin E on the skin has been associated with upset stomach, loose stool, and stomach cramps.

Songyi Mushroom Extract

Songyi mushroom is also known as the Matsutake mushroom and is claimed to have antioxidant properties. According to some sources,

When applied topically, Songyi mushroom extract is known to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and uneven skin tone.

However, these claims have not been validated in high-quality clinical studies.

Retinol

Retinol is a form of vitamin A that has also been used for many decades in skincare products. The Cleveland Clinic points out that retinol may have anti-aging effects and may clear acne-prone skin. But side effects like skin irritation, skin dryness, itching, and burning have been reported.

How to Use Palmers Fade Cream?

The instructions for Palmer’s Fade Cream say that users should apply the cream directly onto affected areas after they have cleaned and dried the skin thoroughly. The manufacturers of Palmer’s Fade Cream recommend that you repeat this process twice a day.

Benefits of Palmers Fade Cream

  • Clearer Complexion – Ingredients like retinol may help clear acne-prone skin and yield a clearer overall complexion for the user. Still, users with very oily skin may not experience the same benefits.
  • Reduced Dark Spot Visibility – Of course, the main goal of this product is to reduce the appearance of dark spots and other signs of aging. However, it may not work for long-standing spots or severe hyperpigmentation.
  • Fewer Wrinkles – We are also told that Palmer’s Fade Cream will work to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. There have been some reviews that dispute this benefit, though.

Side Effects of Palmers Fade Cream

There have been multiple customer reports of minor to major side effects, which include a burning sensation on the skin and redness. Some of the minor side effects may also include an itching sensation. While these effects may not be typical, they should still be carefully considered by anyone thinking of buying Palmer’s Fade Cream.

Safety of Palmers Fade Cream

There is no mention of any safety or manufacturing certificates earned by the company that makes Palmer’s Fade Cream. There is also some concern about the synthetic ingredients in the formula.

That’s why it would be a good idea to ask your physician or dermatologist about the safety of Palmer’s Fade Cream before you actually buy and use it.

Product Price of Palmers Fade Cream

There are two purchasing options for Palmer’s Fade Cream on the official website:

  • 2.7 ounce container – $8.79
  • 4.4 ounce container – $11.95

What Do the Palmers Fade Cream Customer Reviews Say?

There have been side effect complaints by some users, while others say it works to fade dark spots:

I bought this cream in T.J. Maxx. I used that night. My face felt very hot and itchy after 4-5 hours. In the morning, my face turned red and really itchy. It has been very itchy in 3 days already.– Jinhee

Be aware that any sign of an allergic reaction means you need to discontinue using it immediately. The burning, itching rash I have on the backs of both of my hands requires a prescription-strength cortisone. So, while it may work for some, I would caution you to pay close attention to how your skin reacts to any product.– Dee

I tried out the cream for two weeks, and I thought it was incredibly effective. I did notice that my dark spots faded a lot quicker than if I left them alone. – Perlita

However, the change may be very gradual, and some consumers report that Palmer’s Fade Cream didn’t work to reduce the appearance of their dark spots at all.

Palmer’s Fade Cream can work for some, but people with more severe dark spots may need to look to more potent products.

As we age the composition, texture and appearance of our skin changes. Signs of skin aging include wrinkles, fine lines, loss of moisture, uneven tone and dull, tired-looking skin. There are countless anti-wrinkle creams on the market promising to make skin look and feel younger. Many anti-wrinkle creams promise everything short of a facelift or to provide the much sought after "fountain of youth". In reality most are just moisturizers marketed as anti-aging products.

Below you'll find some of the most effective wrinkle serum/cream formulations on the market today, in our opinion.

Gradual change... but irritation was a problem
I used Palmer’s Fade Cream for about five weeks because the dark spots around my cheeks were really bothering me. Before, they were pretty noticeable; after, I saw only a little fading. The bigger issue was the heavy feel and occasional itching. It wasn’t a total waste, but I expected more from a cream specifically targeting stubborn pigmentation.
  2. Jennifer Miller

Gradual results, but not a miracle product.
I’ve been using Palmer’s Fade Cream for a month, and I’ve seen a slight improvement in my dark spots. The results are gradual, and while it helps with skin tone, it hasn’t completely removed my discoloration. It’s good for subtle improvement, but don’t expect overnight changes.
