Overview

Biotin is a Vitamin that often gets overlooked. Everyone knows that vitamin C can boost your immune system and that Vitamin E is important for skin health. But what does Biotin do, and how is it used? More importantly, is it essential enough for people to start taking it every day?

The makers of Nature’s Bounty Biotin certainly think so. The company devoted an entire supplement dedicated to just one vitamin, which suggests that they feel very strongly about the health benefits of Biotin – or at least in their ability to sell a product based on Biotin.

In any case, the makers of Nature’s Bounty Biotin claim that it is a supplement that you need to take in order to support healthy energy levels, a healthy nervous system, and strong hair, nails, and skin. So is Nature’s Bounty Biotin really a worthwhile product? What can users expect from it? Find out in the following review.

What Is Nature’s Bounty Biotin?

Nature’s Bounty Biotin is a supplemental product that comes in capsule form. It should be noted that Nature’s Bounty Biotin comes in 10,000 MCG, 5000 MCG, and 1,000 MCG varieties depending on your level of need. In any case, though, the main ingredient is going to be Biotin.

The rather simple formula for Nature’s Bounty Biotin may reduce the risk of side effects. At the same time, it may also reduce the overall usefulness of the product. The makers of Nature’s Bounty Biotin say that their form of Biotin is unique because it is purer and more effective than most other forms.

There are 120 capsules in each container of Nature’s Bounty Biotin, and they are designed for rapid release, which means that some users can expect results relatively quickly. For the most part, people just take Nature’s Bounty Biotin for cosmetic reasons – boosting hair and nail strength.

Who Is the Manufacturer of Nature’s Bounty Biotin?

Nature’s Bounty is the name of the company that makes these Biotin supplements and a variety of other health and wellness supplements. The company has been in business for over 50 years and claims that quality and care are its leading principles.

Nature’s Bounty also claims that they test the ingredients that they put into their supplements every month. They make a plethora of supplements, including hair growth products, sleep aids, and bone and joint health supplements.

How Does Nature’s Bounty Biotin Work?

It should be noted that Nature’s Bounty Biotin contains only one active ingredient: Biotin. Biotin is a type of water-soluble B Vitamin that has been linked to improved nervous system function and is often used by consumers to strengthen hair, nails, and skin.

The makers of Nature’s Bounty Biotin also say that their product will work by helping improve the methods by which your body converts food to energy. So Nature’s Bounty Biotin may increase your physical energy levels and make you more productive when taken long-term.

However, there are limits to what science has confirmed that biotin can do. For instance, Biotin is often touted as a vitamin that can regrow hair. But the overall clinical evidence for this application is limited. Furthermore, most of the studies on biotin’s effect on hair growth have been marred by inconsistencies in patient histories and inconclusive study results.

Nature’s Bounty Biotin Ingredients: Are they Safe & Effective?

Again, there is only one active ingredient in the formula for Nature’s Bounty Biotin. So in the following section, we will provide a thorough analysis of this ingredient and what it can and cannot do:

Biotin

Biotin is a kind of B Vitamin that has been linked to improved nervous system function. Furthermore, there have been studies that suggest that biotin can be used to alleviate certain kinds of nerve pain. The National Institutes of Health concluded a study of Biotin’s effect on the nervous system with the following statement:

Our results suggest that biotin can be considered as a potential therapeutic for the treatment of neuropathic pain, and supplementation with this vitamin could reduce the required doses of analgesic drugs. However, further studies are needed to confirm this hypothesis.

While these results are promising, we can see at the end of the quote that the findings were tempered with the acknowledgment that more studies are needed. There are also claims that Biotin is essential for drawing usable, physical energy out of the foods we eat. Again, the National Institutes of Health gives us some insight:

Essentially, these conversions assisted by Biotin, break down food into glucose, the primary carbohydrate source for the brain and body.

This same effect has been recognized for possible anti-diabetic applications. Because Biotin appears to help the body process carbohydrates faster than normal, it may also reduce fasting blood glucose levels.

Biotin is also widely used to strengthen tissue connections in the hair, skin, and nails, prompting some to use it to prevent or slow down hair loss. There is limited evidence to support this application, though, as the NIH states that:

Though its use as a hair and nail growth supplement is prevalent, research demonstrating the efficacy of Biotin is limited.

Benefits of Nature’s Bounty Biotin

  • Stronger Hair and Nails
There are claims that Nature’s Bounty Biotin can improve brittle nails and prevent hair breakage and maybe even hair loss. There is little evidence to support these claims, though.
  • Nervous System Support
The active ingredient in this supplement may ameliorate nerve pain caused by various conditions. Again, though, more clinical studies are needed to confirm this benefit.
  • Energy
Nature’s Bounty Biotin is also supposed to help with the conversion of carbohydrates into usable physical energy. This effect may go unnoticed by some users, though.

Side Effects

There have not been a lot of complaints of side effects from people who have taken Nature’s Bounty Biotin. Still, Biotin has been known to cause side effects like excessive thirst, insomnia, and excessive urination.

Safety

Nature’s Bounty Biotin seems to have been safe for most people who have tried it. But you should still talk to a healthcare practitioner, as you may not need any more Biotin in your diet.

Pricing

The price for Nature’s Bounty Biotin may vary as it is sold in various stores and on retail websites. For instance, Amazon has a bottle of Nature’s Bounty Biotin on sale for $8.87 while Walgreens has the same bottle on sale for $21.99.

I bought these products for years, before the color of the gel was white. But the last purchase I got was yellowish in color. I don’t know if it’s fake or a bad production result. Send an email for more information, but I got no reply at all. – Ricky.

I have taken this while growing my hair out. I have more lengthy and healthy hair in 1 year than EVER! Literally from a pixie to past my shoulder, so silky. Bonus is that my nails are beautiful too. Take in the evening with supper. Lifetime fan. – Alex.

Hair grew… just not as much as i hoped
Been using this biotin for almost 3 months. Before, my hair was shedding like crazy. After? Shedding slowed but the ‘thick hair’ everyone talks about didn’t happen for me. Nails did get stronger, though. Wish the hair results matched the hype.
