Who is the Manufacturer of Glo Teeth Whitening?

The manufacturer of this brand is a company called GLO Science, headquartered in New York, New York and founded in 2009. Well regarded dentist Dr. Jonathan Levine started the company and developed their unique G.L.O (Guided Light Optics) technology.

How Does It Work?

Glo Teeth Whitening products use hydrogen peroxide for teeth bleaching over time through oxidation, as we said in our review of the Arc Teeth Whitening Pen. It’s safe for the teeth enamel at the levels included..

A review of the research published in the Indian Journal of Contemporary Dentistry by Gousalya V, et al concluded that high levels of hydrogen peroxide have a better whitening effect but cause mild sensitivity, while lower levels work slightly less well but lead to limited sensitivity [1].

There are ingredients in the formulas like glycerin which keep the teeth hydrated so the peroxide can reach deeper stains, and some products have menthol to freshen the breath. Others may strengthen the teeth, help decrease sensitivity, and prevent mineral loss.

The formula has anti-inflammatory agents which soothe and decrease swelling in the mouth, anti-microbial properties which kill bacteria, reduce plaque, and lower gingivitis risk, and antioxidants which promote repair and healing.

The Glo Teeth Whitening brand employs their proprietary G.L.O (Guided Light Optics) technology which combines LED light and heat to promote oral health and teeth whitening benefits.

The LED light stimulates the mitochondria in the cells to boost ATP levels, which powers the cells to offer numerous health benefits like teeth whitening and improved oral health.

Company founder Dr. Jonathan B Levine explains the process:

In our mouthpiece, we have heat resistors, and the LED lights basically says the mouthpiece is on. It’s the heat resistance that warms, but it’s a closed system that keeps the hydrogen peroxide, the oxygens in the mouth and our controller controls the temperature.

A clinical study published in The Open Dentistry Journal by Roche HaywardYusuf Osman, and Sias R Grobler showed the effectiveness of a gel/LED device for teeth whitening during in office treatment. During the following 14 day period using a gel at home, there wasn’t much added benefit [2].

Glo Teeth Whitening Ingredients – Are they Safe & Effective?

Thes are some of the primary active ingredients in Glo Teeth Whitening products:

Hydrogen Peroxide

A study on healthy teeth in the Journal of Dentistry by Hazem Eimar, et al found that hydrogen peroxide whitens teeth by oxidizing the organic matrix and doesn’t harm tooth enamel [3]

Hydrogen Peroxide is a bleaching agent which may remove stains and discoloration and whiten the teeth. In addition, it may reduce inflammation, kill harmful bacteria, and decrease the risk of infection. It is a key ingredient in Crest Teeth Whitening and many other teeth whitening products. It is known for its bleaching properties, which help remove stains and discoloration from teeth, leading to a brighter and whiter smile.

Verdict: Hydrogen Peroxide may effectively whiten the teeth over time.

Sodium Fluoride

Sodium Fluoride supports oral health by preventing tooth decay. This is an inorganic compound and mineral which helps strengthen the teeth, so you are less likely to develop cavities.

A study conducted by Ye Han and published in Scientific Reports concluded that brief sodium fluoride treatments may help control the development of dental caries during the early stage of cariogenic biofilm formation [4].

Verdict: Sodium fluoride may strengthen the tooth enamel and help prevent dental caries.

Potassium Nitrate

This is an inorganic compound which could calm nerve activity in the teeth and gums so that you experience less pain and sensitivity.

A study published in the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Dentistry by Sunita Sharma, Neetha J. Shetty, and Ashita Uppoor found that a  potassium nitrate desensitizing mouthwash and toothpaste were effective in treating hypersensitivity [5].

Verdict: Potassium nitrate may help improve teeth and gum sensitivity.

What Do the Glo Teeth Whitening Reviews Say?

The rating from our team is positive on the whole, and we give the brand 4/5 stars. While results sometimes take longer than just a couple of weeks, the technology is safe and there is some research supporting its benefits in oral care and teeth whitening.

The Glo Science teeth whitening reviews are fairly good overall, with a number of users saying they liked the brand and got solid teeth whitening results. Others mention issues with the functionality of the Glo Teeth Whitening Kit or charger.

On the official site, 105 Classic Glo Brilliant Teeth Whitening Kit reviews rate the product 4 out of 5 stars. On Sephora, 856 customers rate the same kit 4.1 stars, as do 1948 Amazon customers. On the official site, 154 raters on the Advanced Kit give a higher score of 4.5.stars.

Glo Teeth Whitening Reviews – Conclusion

Dentist Recommended Teeth Whitening received a solid rating of 4 out of 5 stars from our team of board-certified dentists. We appreciate that Glo Teeth Whitening is developed by dentists, and the technology and ingredients show scientific backing. However, our main concern is that the devices in this category don’t consistently function as expected, suggesting there might be some kinks that need further refinement.

On the whole, the Glo Teeth Whitening reviews are fairly positive, and there are a number of people who say the products work well for them in terms of whitening and improved oral health. However, not every customer got the expected results, and some had difficulty with the charger or gel dispenser for the mouthpiece.

Glo Teeth Whitening devices are FDA registered and manufactured under strict safety conditions. The ingredients and the light heat technology are safe as long as you follow the directions exactly. If you experience discomfort, stop using Glo Teeth Whitening. It’s a good idea to get approval from your dentist before using these products.

Glo Teeth Whitening is a game-changer!
I’ve tried various whitening products before, but nothing comes close to the results I’ve achieved with Glo. It’s easy to use, and I saw a significant difference in just a few sessions. Plus, no sensitivity issues, which is a huge plus. My smile is now noticeably brighter, and I couldn’t be happier!
