Rodan and Fields Active Hydration Serum Ingredients – Are They Safe & Effective?

Some of the key ingredients used include:

Sodium Hyaluronate

– Hyaluronic acid is well-known for its incredible ability to draw in and hold moisture in the skin. It’s often hailed as one of the top ingredients for enhancing hydration and giving the skin a plump, youthful look.

A study by the Cleveland Clinic has demonstrated that hyaluronic acid not only boosts skin moisture levels but also helps diminish the appearance of fine lines and improve skin elasticity.[1]

Glycerin

– Glycerin is a popular humectant, which means it has the ability to pull moisture from the air into your skin. Numerous studies have shown that it helps keep your skin hydrated while also enhancing its softness and smoothness.

Research in the Scientific Reports backs up its effectiveness in preventing moisture loss, making it a great addition to your skincare routine.[2]

Ceramides

– Ceramides are essential lipids that help keep our skin’s barrier functioning properly. Research has shown that these little wonders not only help lock in moisture but also enhance skin texture and shield our skin from environmental stressors. They’re especially great for those with dry or sensitive skin.

A review in the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology explains the benefits of ceramides for skin.[3]

Tocopherol

– Vitamin E is a fabulous antioxidant celebrated for its ability to protect the skin. Studies indicate that it effectively neutralizes free radicals, which helps to lessen oxidative stress and the skin damage that can result from UV rays and pollution. Additionally, it plays a role in moisturizing and enhancing the look of scars and wrinkles.[4]

Lactic Acid

– As an alpha-hydroxy acid, lactic acid is well-documented for its exfoliating and skin-smoothing properties.

A study by Clinical, Cosmetic, and Investigational Dermatology demonstrates that lactic acid helps remove dead skin cells, promotes skin cell turnover, and improves skin texture and radiance without causing irritation. It also supports hydration by enhancing the skin’s natural moisture-retaining abilities.[5]

The customer reviews are as follows:

      Did Not Like

“I hate writing a bad review about anything but this product was not for me at all. I thought application was terrible. Tons of product on the brush and after you got enough of it off the color was completely wrong (light). I have auburn hair. I worked With it for several days and it looked terrible. I am Definitely no novice to eyebrow products or any makeup but this was horrible.” – Roxxane R.

      Old age

“I don’t see any change and want to see my skin to look firm and less wrinkles on my neck and bottom of the face. Also, I would like to have a product that will remove the age spots.” – Michel S.

      The product may work, but

“The product may work, but it’s messy and very thin/runny, which means it runs through my fingers before they reach my face. I end up needing to use more just to have enough to spread over my fact and neck. Also, my face feels sticky after application, regardless of how much I use. The packaging is strange – using a dropper feels medical.” – Jolene_Smith

      Hydrating

“Hydrating, felt like a coolness against my skin that it desperately needed. My skin felt nourished and oddly enough, like it could breathe better.” – Mary_McFadden

      Not bad, not great

“It was light and went on well. I have used better. The sample barely had any in it, so my review is probably not the best.” – Kris

30 ml gone in ~6 weeks with conservative use
I was so careful- literally 2-3 drops every night and the bottle still looked half empty day one and was done in 6 weeks flat. Hydrates nice and skin feels plush but for $86 I expected at least 2-3 months, not a $15/week serum. lines still there, glow is whatever. consultant said “you’re probably using too much”… nah I counted drops. not repurchasing, back to the ordinary HA that lasts forever.
  2. Pamela

    Available in less quantity.
My order arrived in a sealed package. The bottle was about halfway filled and held a watery liquid. Nothing like past orders I’ll spend a bit more and order directly from the Rodan and Fields Active Hydration Serum official website. I am generally delighted with my Amazon purchases, but this one was a disappointment.
