Overview

Adding collagen to coffee or a smoothie sounds simple enough, but the harder part is knowing what you are actually getting from the scoop. Collagen powders are often promoted for skin, hair, nails, and joints, yet the research is stronger in some areas than others.

Orgain Grass Fed Pasture Raised Collagen Peptides keeps the formula basic. One serving provides 20g of hydrolyzed bovine collagen peptides and 18g of protein, with no added flavors or extra active ingredients.

The powder is easy to mix into foods and drinks and provides a clearly listed collagen serving. At $35.99 for about 22 servings, its overall value depends on how well the formula fits your individual needs and expectations.

Quick Verdict

Orgain Grass Fed Pasture Raised Collagen Peptides is a simple, single ingredient, collagen powder with 20g of hydrolyzed bovine collagen and 18g of protein per serving. Each 1 lb canister serves approximately 22 servings and is $35.99.

The catch is that the complete formula has not been tested in a published clinical trial.

Collagen has some human evidence for joint comfort, while skin findings are mixed and support for hair and nail benefits is limited. It is an easy-to-use collagen option, but it should not replace complete protein sources in the diet.

What Is Orgain Grass Fed Pasture Raised Collagen Peptides?

Orgain Grass Fed Pasture Raised Collagen Peptides is an unflavored, collagen powder that is derived from collagen from cow’s meat. The collagen comes from grass-fed, pasture-raised cattle, according to the company.

A typical serving contains two 100kcal collagen peptides (20g), 18g of protein, and 70 calories. This is a 1 lb canister with approximately 22 servings.

Orgain markets the powder as a skin, hair, nail and joint support supplement. The formula is hydrolyzed (dissolved), collagen is broken down to smaller peptides. It’s also IGEN Non-GMO Tested, gluten-free and dairy- and soy-free.

Key Ingredient of Orgain Collagen Peptides

The formula is simple, with one active ingredient, which makes it easier to understand what each serving provides.

Hydrolyzed Bovine Collagen Peptides

Orgain uses hydrolyzed bovine collagen peptides from grass-fed, pasture-raised cattle. The collagen is identified as Types I and III, which are commonly associated with skin, bones, connective tissue, and joint structure. Because it is hydrolyzed, it mixes easily into drinks and foods.

Each two-scoop serving provides 20g of collagen peptides, 18g of protein, and 70 calories. The unflavored powder can be added to coffee, smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt, or other foods without significantly changing the taste. Collagen is not a complete protein, so it works best as an addition to a varied diet rather than as a replacement for complete protein sources.

Collagen has been studied for joint health, and a study published in PubMed found that collagen supplementation improved pain and physical function in people with knee osteoarthritis.

How Does Orgain Collagen Peptides Work?

Collagen is one of the main structural proteins found in skin, bones, connective tissue, and joints. When collagen peptides are eaten, they are broken down further during digestion into smaller peptides and amino acids.

Orgain uses hydrolyzed bovine collagen, mainly Types I and III. These collagen types are commonly found in skin, bone, and connective tissue.

Some research suggests oral collagen peptides may support certain skin and joint outcomes. However, results can depend on the collagen type, amount, length of use, and the people being studied.

Potential Benefits of Orgain Collagen Peptides

These benefits reflect research on oral collagen in general rather than guaranteed results from this exact Orgain powder.

  • Joint Support: Collagen supplementation has shown some promise for joint pain and function, especially in studies involving knee osteoarthritis.
  • Skin Support: Some studies report improvements in skin hydration and elasticity, although results become less consistent when higher-quality studies are considered.
  • Protein Intake: Each serving provides 18g of protein, although collagen is not a complete protein because it lacks tryptophan.
  • Simple Ingredient Profile: The powder contains one active ingredient without added sweeteners or flavors.
  • Easy Mixing: The unflavored powder can be added to coffee, smoothies, oatmeal, soups, and other foods without adding much flavor.

How to Use

Orgain lists two scoops, or about 20g, as one serving.

Because the powder is unflavored, it can be mixed into hot or cold beverages and foods. One 1 lb container provides about 22 servings when used at the full two-scoop serving.

Collagen can help add protein to the diet, but it should not be the only protein source because it is incomplete. A varied diet that includes complete protein sources remains important.

How Much Does Orgain Collagen Peptides Cost?

The 1 lb canister currently costs $35.99 as a one-time purchase. With about 22 servings per container, that comes to roughly $1.64 per serving.

Orgain offers Subscribe & Save for $30.59, a 15% discount, with free shipping in the contiguous United States. One-time orders qualify for free shipping at $75+.

What Customers Are Saying

While initial customer feedback appears positive, the limited number of reviews makes it difficult to draw firm conclusions.

The lack of flavor makes it easy to mix with different foods and beverages. After about a month of use, I noticed that my nails seemed stronger – Julie P .

I had used this collagen for an extended period, but my most recent purchase had a strong odor when mixed with hot tea. I decided to try another brand. -Deborah L.

Safety and Side Effects

Collagen supplements are generally well tolerated by most healthy adults, but some people may notice mild digestive symptoms, an aftertaste, or changes in smell or texture.

This product comes from cattle, so it is not suitable for people avoiding bovine ingredients. Collagen is also an incomplete protein and should not replace complete protein sources such as dairy, eggs, meat, soy, or properly combined plant proteins.

People who are pregnant, nursing, have food allergies, or manage a medical condition should discuss supplement use with a healthcare professional when appropriate.

Is Orgain Collagen Peptides a Scam?

No. Orgain is an established nutrition company with clear product labeling, a full ingredient list, published pricing, customer service information, hundreds of product reviews, and a return policy.

The powder itself is also straightforward. It contains hydrolyzed bovine collagen peptides rather than a proprietary blend or a long list of added ingredients.

Overall, the product appears legitimate, but its beauty claims should be viewed with realistic expectations.

Too slow to notice real changes
I mainly wanted stronger nails and healthier-looking skin because mine had been looking dull lately. Mixing it into coffee was easy, but after more than two months I honestly couldn’t see enough improvement. My nails still break easily, and my skin doesn’t look much different. Maybe it needs more time, but I expected at least some noticeable progress by now.
