Overview

A consistent diet of sugary and carb-rich foods can put undue stress on your pancreas to create more and more insulin. Over time, your body simply becomes desensitized to insulin and the hormone becomes less effective overall – putting you at risk of developing diabetes.

One option is a supplement called Glucoven. Glucoven has been advertised as a complete blood sugar support formula that may help prevent blood sugar spikes.

TL;DR

  • Over 98 million Americans have prediabetes, often due to diets high in sugar and refined carbs.
  • Natural ingredients like berberine and bitter melon may help lower blood sugar by up to 25%, according to studies in the Frontiers in Pharmacology.
  • Glucoven combines 5 key ingredients that may improve insulin sensitivity and support healthier A1C levels naturally.

So can you really rely on this supplement? We tell you everything you need to know in the following Glucoven review.

What Is Glucoven?

According to the official website for Glucoven, it is a “natural remedy” made for blood sugar support. The product comes in capsule form and the formula consists of five natural ingredients. These ingredients, whether they are effective are not, actually show up in a lot of other supplements of this kind.

Still, the manufacturers of Glucoven say that it is unique because all of the ingredients are supposed to work together and complement each other’s effects. The result, we are told, is better glycemic control for the user whether they are diabetic or not. It should be noted at this point that Glucoven is merely a dietary supplement and not intended to diagnose or cure any medical condition.

Nor should you replace any medications your physician may have you on with Glucoven. With that being said, Glucoven may help people who are at risk of becoming prediabetic. Most people who buy this supplement seem to do so in order to keep their A1C levels under control.

Who Is The Manufacturer Of Glucoven?

Glucoven is manufactured by a company called Nutreance. Nutreance is based in Greenwich, Connecticut and they make a wide variety of other kinds of supplements like women’s health supplements and supplements for organ support.

Nutreance isn’t the most well-established supplement company but they are gaining some attention for the wide variety of products they offer and the fact that they use clean, natural, GMO-free ingredients.

How Does Glucoven Work?

One of the key claims made by the manufacturers of Glucoven is that it will help reduce your risk of sugar and hormone “desensitization” as they call it. Really what they are talking about is insulin resistance. Insulin resistance occurs when you consistently eat carb and sugar-rich foods and your pancreas has to produce more and more insulin to absorb the glucose.

When this occurs too many times over too long a timeframe, you can easily become insulin-resistant and you increase your risk of becoming diabetic as a result. Glucoven is said to work to prevent this occurrence and at the same time, lower blood sugar levels.

The way it is said to work is through just five natural ingredients. This formula, and its effects, may be a bit limited if one or all of these ingredients aren’t really beneficial for glycemic control, however. Still, Glucoven may work for some who may have never used a supplement like this.

Glucoven Ingredients – Are They Safe & Effective?

Now let’s take a look at what scientific studies have had to say about the Glucoven ingredients:

organixx magnesium 7 supplement facts

Organixx Magnesium 7 Supplement Facts

Bitter Melon

Bitter melon has exhibited the ability to lower blood sugar levels after a meal in some clinical studies. However, it may not be as effective as common blood sugar medications. Additionally, consumers should be aware that bitter melon may also cause headache, fever, and abdominal pain.

Berberine

According to some studies, berberine has a “glucose-lowering effect” which has to do with the increased absorption of glucose and a prevention of hemoglobin saturation. It should also be noted though that not all tests run on berberine have met with the same results.

Chromium

Chromium is a common mineral found in these types of blood sugar support supplements. The Diabetes Journals website published a report on chromium’s effect on blood sugar that said it reduced A1c by about 0.6%. For some, this rate of reduction may not have a significant impact.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a common spice that is often touted as a holistic treatment for high blood sugar levels. While there have been some studies that suggest that it can lower LDL cholesterol, its effect on blood sugar specifically is still a matter of debate. The Mayo Clinic released a report on cinnamon and it contained the following passage:

Despite many studies, it isn’t clear whether cinnamon helps lower blood sugar in people with diabetes. Some studies of cinnamon have shown a benefit. Others haven’t Many of those research studies included different doses and different types of cinnamon. That makes it hard to compare the results. It’s possible that cinnamon might help the body use insulin more efficiently. But more research is needed to determine if, and how, cinnamon supplements might help people with diabetes.

Alpha Lipoic Acid

There have been clinical trials that show great promise for the treatment of high blood glucose with alpha lipoic acid. However, these studies have mainly focused on ALA’s effect on people who already have type-2 diabetes and not so much on healthy individuals.

How To Use Glucoven?

The manufacturers of Glucoven suggest that you take 1 capsule, one to two times a day. It would also be a good idea to ask your trusted healthcare practitioner about how you should take Glucoven.

Benefits Of Glucoven

  • Lower Cholesterol – While not a claim made explicitly by the manufacturers of Glucoven, the presence of cinnamon in the formula could still have a moderately beneficial effect on your LDL cholesterol.
  • Better Glycemic Control – Glucoven may also work to exert greater glycemic control, even in the face of a high-sugar diet. However, the level of effectiveness in this regard is likely to vary from user to user.
  • Lowered Insulin Resistance – The makers of Glucoven claim that the supplement will lower insulin resistance and prevent sugar “desensitization” as they call it, but there is little clinical evidence to confirm such effects.

Side Effects Of Glucoven

There have not been any Glucoven reviews from customers about side effects. Still, that does not mean Glucoven will be completely side-effect-free for everyone. In fact, some of the ingredients in the formula have been known to cause side effects like headache, nausea, and even kidney injury.

Safety Of Glucoven

We are told by the company that makes Glucoven that it does not contain any genetically modified substances. Glucoven is also supposed to be safe for vegans as it does not contain any animal byproducts. Consumers should still talk to a physician before using Glucoven.

Glucoven Price

The price for a single bottle of Glucoven as listed on the official Nutreance website is $39.95. There is also a $10 discount when you buy two more bottles. Prices may also vary on third-party retail sites like Amazon and Walmart depending on availability and offers.

Glucoven may even help some people lower their bad cholesterol levels. But prospective Glucoven customers should keep in mind the possible side effects, the fact that some users say it didn’t work, and the fact that some ingredients have not been proven effective.

  1. Sarah Williams

glucoven gave minimal support for blood sugar control
I started taking Glucoven to help manage my blood sugar, but after several weeks, the results were very modest. I didn’t see significant changes, although there were minor improvements after meals. The capsules are easy to take, but the impact is barely noticeable unless combined with strict diet and exercise. It may work slightly for some, but overall it didn’t provide a strong effect for me.
  2. Silas Granger

    Underwhelming for the price
I took Glucoven for 6 weeks, one capsule twice daily, hoping to manage my prediabetes. The formula, with bitter melon and berberine, showed promise in studies for reducing blood sugar, but my results were modest slight A1C improvement but no major change. At $39.95 per bottle, it’s expensive, especially with only a 30-day return policy. The vegan, GMP-certified capsules are high-quality, but I got mild headaches initially. It’s not ineffective, but I’m not convinced it’s worth the cost. I’ll keep monitoring, but I’m skeptical.
  3. Thane Carver

    Okay, but not a miracle
I started Glucoven hoping to manage my slightly elevated blood sugar levels naturally. After 6 weeks of taking one capsule daily, I noticed a slight drop in my A1C from 6.5 to 6.2, but it’s hard to say if it was the supplement or my diet changes. My energy’s a bit more stable, but I still get sugar cravings. The capsules are a bit big, which is annoying, and at $39.95 for one bottle, it feels overpriced for the results. No side effects, which is good, but I expected more. Talk to your doctor before trying it.
