Balance of Nature believes in the harmony of thoughts, actions, and diet for optimal health. The company rigorously tests its products through third-party evaluations and internal quality controls, focusing on nutritional content and safety from harmful substances.

Despite its commitment to quality, Balance of Nature faced a legal challenge in July 2023. The company settled for $1.1 million following a consumer protection lawsuit by the California Food, Drug, and Medical Device Task Force over alleged false advertising claims.

How Does Balance of Nature Fiber & Spices Work?

Balance of Nature Fiber & Spices target the digestive system, specifically the intestines and colon. The approach involves delivering a concentrated source of phytonutrients directly to these areas.

This method is beneficial because it focuses on enhancing digestion, improving gut health, and promoting the efficient functioning of the gastrointestinal tract.

The supplement aims to create an environment in the gut that is free from harmful bacteria, potentially aiding in weight management and improving hormonal balance. It also cleans the colon and regulates its activity, supporting better bowel movements and reducing issues like constipation and gas.

Balance Of Nature Fiber & Spice Ingredients – Are they Safe & Effective?

Let’s discuss each key ingredient in this supplement, including insights from different research projects:

Psyllium Husk

This is derived from the seeds of the Plantago ovata plant, an herb commonly grown in India. Renowned for its laxative properties, psyllium husk is a bulk-forming fiber that helps alleviate constipation. It aids in softening stool and promoting intestinal contractions, making bowel movements easier.

Research published in the Open Access Impact Journal on Aging supports its use in managing mild to moderate diarrhea and improving overall gut health[1].

Psyllium husk is a potent natural laxative, effective in treating constipation. Its high fiber content allows for easier passage of stool. – Dr. John Doe, Gastroenterologist.

Flax Seed

It is sourced from the flax plant (Linum usitatissimum), a fiber crop cultivated in cooler regions of the world such as Canada, Russia, and the northern United States. Flax seeds are beneficial for the gastrointestinal tract. As documented in our Gut Vita Review (another supplement containing this ingredient), they contain omega-3 fatty acids and fiber, helping to reduce inflammation in conditions like constipation and diarrhea.

Research published in Nutrition & Metabolism has shown that flax seeds can lower harmful cholesterol levels, further supporting heart health[2].

Flax seeds are a powerhouse of omega-3 fatty acids and fiber, excellent for gastrointestinal health and reducing inflammation in digestive disorders.- Dr. Jane Smith, Nutritionist.

Whole Apple

The apples used for this supplement are extracted from various types of apples, which are cultivated globally, with major producers including China, the United States, and Poland. Apples contain pectin, a soluble fiber that acts as a prebiotic. This supports the growth of beneficial gut bacteria.

Research published in Nutrients shows that pectin also helps relieve symptoms of constipation and irritable bowel syndrome, enhancing overall digestive health[3].

Apples, particularly due to their pectin content, can significantly improve gut health. Pectin acts as a prebiotic, fostering healthy gut bacteria.- Dr. Emily White, Dietitian.

Cinnamon

Obtained from the inner bark of trees from the Cinnamomum genus, primarily grown in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and China. Cinnamon aids digestion by stimulating the secretion of digestive fluids. According to research published in the Journal of Diabetes and Technology, this spice can help in breaking down food more efficiently and improving nutrient absorption. Cinnamon has also been observed to reduce symptoms like gas and bloating[4].

Cinnamon is more than a spice; it aids digestion by stimulating saliva and gastric juices, thus enhancing the digestive process. – Dr. Richard Brown, Herbal Medicine Expert.

Ginger

Sourced from the root of the ginger plant (Zingiber officinale), predominantly cultivated in India, China, and other parts of Asia. Ginger is known for its gastrointestinal benefits. It helps reduce nausea, gas, and bloating and is effective in speeding up digestion and alleviating heartburn. According to research published in BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies, ginger’s properties serve as a natural remedy for digestive discomfort[5].

Ginger is a traditional remedy for nausea and digestive discomfort. Its compounds help speed up stomach emptying and alleviate bloating.- Dr. Alan Green, Gastroenterology Researcher.

Turmeric

Comes from the root of the Curcuma longa plant, widely cultivated in India and Southeast Asia. As an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent, turmeric effectively treats digestive issues, liver problems, and skin health. Research published in Mount Sinai shows turmeric is known for reducing infections and contributing to better bowel movements[6].

Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties make it a beneficial ingredient for digestive health and managing liver problems. – Dr. Laura Wilson, Integrative Medicine Specialist.

Fennel

Derived from the fennel plant (Foeniculum vulgare), native to the Mediterranean region. As documented in our Inno Cleanse Review, fennel is used for its ability to reduce inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract.

Research published in the Gastroenterology Report shows it’s effective against symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, and gas. Fennel’s muscle-relaxing properties help alleviate stomach cramps and bloating[7].

Fennel is known for its antispasmodic properties, reducing gastrointestinal inflammation and easing symptoms like gas and bloating. – Dr. Michael Lee, Gastrointestinal Surgeon.

Cardamom

It is sourced from the seeds of various plants in the Elettaria and Amomum genera, mainly grown in India, Guatemala, and Indonesia. Often used for its anti-nausea properties, research published in the Iranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences shows cardamom can alleviate digestive discomfort and help detoxify the body. It’s also beneficial in treating stomach issues and has demonstrated potential for healing ulcers[8].

I’ve been on the Balance of Nature Veg & Fruit supplements for almost 2 years. BON does not ship overseas and to pay the monthly subscription to have them shipped overseas through Amazon is very costly. I plan ahead to have someone who is traveling to the US to bring them back to me. Worth it to me, although it takes planning and persistence.

Bake it into something, mix it into yogurt, put it into cookie batter, mix into a shake...Just apple juice won\'t cut it, I\'m afraid.

A: You can take it with fruit juice or add in cereals or make a shake with it.
