new year

Through my years of battling a life-threatening case of Crohn’s Disease, I’ve learned rebuilding the digestive system is no easy task. For those who do not know what crohn’s disease is, it is an Auto Immune Disease which effects a persona ability to properly digest and absorb food without extreme symptoms like internal bleeding, extreme weight loss, loss of movement, severe food allergies, etc’

This disease nearly took my life in my early twenties, now I live symptoms free with a passion for health and a fire to help others do the same.

Why is healing the gut so hard?

Unlike other parts of the body, we cannot see our GI Tract nor stop using it which makes healing that much more difficult.

If we were to try to heal a knee injury for example, we would be much more aware of it’s status based on visual symptoms. It would be easier to reframe from walking on it to allow proper healing. Not that case with the gut, ‘ so instead of starving ourselves or spending precious time, money or energy aimless… here are three tips that will gut-check health this coming year.

1. Rebuild Your Microbiome

Rebuild Your Microbiome

The “Microbiome” is a fancy word for the world of bacteria living in our bodies. The average person has 3lbs of bacteria living inside them ‘ our goal is make sure the type of bacteria in our bodies is the good kind as known as beneficial bacteria.

The second goal is to take efforts to eliminate harmful bacteria’s also known as “Candida” by eating a organic foods from the earth while reframing from refined sugars, starches, fast foods, yeast, and other poor choices which will destroy our efforts to rebuild our beneficial bacteria.

My favorite starter beneficial bacteria is “Life Start” by Natren Probiotics ‘ a transparent and powerful bacteria made for infants but great to start with if you’re new to the idea.

2. The Power Of Elemental Shakes

An elemental shake is simply food in a predigested manner. Just like healing any other part of the body, we need to temporarily eliminate strain so healing can occur. We decrease the amount of “whole food” meals we intake to allow our system a chance to reset while giving us numerous benefits.. It’s a fantastic way of increasing nutrient density while getting in a highly nutritious meal that eliminates stress on the GI tract.

My favorite fruits to start with are Banana’s, Blueberries. Mangos. My favorite supplements to add are Grounded Psyllium Husk (bulking agent), Grounded Slippery Elm, and Udo’s Oil.

Shakes can help us with our #1 goal of reduce digestive load and eliminate inflammation. They are also very effective at our #2 goal of increasing energy the absorption of nutrients. #3 they are a great transport vehicle for Supplements/Herbs which are effective at healing the gut lining and nourishing the GI tract.

Most of these supplements on the market are only effective when we achieve are main goal of eliminating inflammatory reactions so make sure to have a foundation diet and lifestyle before spending money on these products.
