Eat healthy

Los Angeles CA- Its that time of year again! Holidays have passed and Oscar season is upon us. Is it really possible to go to a movie theatre and enjoy a movie? Of Course! Is it as easy to have healthy options? Maybe maybe not! I have some tips and tricks to help save you some calories and still enjoy your time at the movies.

1] Count Your Calories! Enjoy snacks but limit the number of sugary treats. Don’t deprive yourself, rather, share your treats so that you Don’t consume the entire package. Most of the snacks are family size??? so if you read the label, the calorie count per serving is manageable, but remember to share with your friends or family.

2] Find Alternatives!. It is true that it can be a challenge to find alternative snacks at the movie concession, but pretzels, goldfish crackers, and pickles are better alternatives to the chocolates and candies

Find Alternatives

3] Ask and Sometimes you Shall be Allowed! Some if not most movie theaters may allow you to take in your own snacks, especially if you tell them that you have special dietary needs. Jerkey, yogurt, and fresh fruit are often items that theaters do not carry, so they don’t feel that they are losing a sale since you won’t eat the other stuff anyway.

I always ask so that I Don’t feel that I am being sneaky, but I also want to sit and enjoy the movie. It’s the same concept of asking to order off the children’s menu at a sit-down restaurant. Just ask! Most of the time the answer will be yes.

4] Avoid the EXTRA Condiments! This tip deserves a double take! Adding extra to any menu item at any food place packs on additional calories that are unnecessary. Skip the mayo, skip the ketchup, skip the extra butter, or just skip the butter altogether. This is a small sacrifice that will save loads of calories on your movie experience.

5] Drink Lots of Water. If you drink water before heading out to the movie, you will feel full and not necessarily feeling the urge to eat or drink. If you must have a beverage, take the powder packs of crystal light or sugar-free Kool-aid.

Add it to any bottle of water and skip the extra calories from the soda and sugary juices. Your kids will not miss the bad stuff as long as you Don’t make a big deal of it.

Taking Your Partner On A Date

Planning a day out with the kids at the movies or just taking your partner on a date night can be fun and healthy at the same time. It will require some planning and it will require you to think ahead of time about the experience.

I do have another tip, which will matter days ahead of time and it’s a tip that can help you make healthier choices all the time not just on movie night.

One of the best technological tools that we have is our phones. Online ordering is becoming more a normal thing to do. In so many cases technology has become a negative trend, but when it comes to healthy eating, I highly recommend ordering online and having your groceries delivered.

If you pick it up, it’s ok too, but here is why this can be a great tool. Walking thru a grocery store, oftentimes we buy things we don’t need.

We also tend to impulse buy and many times it means that we buy cookies, muffins, or just junk food in general. Use this feature and avoid the temptation of walking thru the store. It is so easy to use sites like Milkandeggs to make good choices and make your weekly plans including a day or night out at the movies! Hopefully, you find these tips useful and rate them two thumbs up!
