What is Alli Weight Loss Aid?

Alli Weight Loss Aid is a weight loss pill containing one powerful ingredient, which is Orlistat. It’s a non-prescription medication which is the only OTC weight loss medication that is approved by the FDA. It’s primarily intended for obese adults with a BMI of over 30, but is also approved for those who are overweight and have a BMI over 27.

Alongside taking the supplement, users follow a low calorie, low fat diet and ideally follow up with a physician regularly. Customers may also consider meeting with a professional RDN on a regular basis to do some meal planning.

I’ve done a lot of research on this product, and it certainly may have some weight loss benefits. However, it’s also true that the low fat and calorie diet may be responsible for many of the results. In this review, I’ll discuss the important details of Alli Orlistat 60mg Weight Loss Aid170 capsules.

About the Brand

The manufacturer of this product is GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), which is one of the world’s top pharmaceutical companies. They deal in the area of both pharmaceuticals and consumer health care, and take pride in developing high-quality health products [1].

How Does Alli Weight Loss Aid Work?

The enzyme lipase that lives in the intestinal tract breaks fat down into smaller components for use by the body or energy expenditure. According to the Mayo Clinic, the primary active ingredient in Alli Weight Loss Aid Diet Pills, Orlistat, prevents lipase from taking this action and therefore prevents fat absorption [2].

The additional fat leaves your body through bowel movements, which may lead to some very oily emissions. A study in the Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism concluded that orlistat was a safe, effective, and well-tolerated anti-obesity drug [3].

Alli Weight Loss Aid Ingredients

There is only one active ingredient in Alli Weight Loss Aid, which is the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved medication orlistat. It is a weight loss pill which is for people who have a BMI of over 27 (overweight) or obese (30) as well as for those with conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.

For the most part research finds it to be safe and effective, although it may have some unpleasant GI side effects. A study in JAMA Network found orlistat to be an effective weight loss aid for adolescents if combined with diet, exercise, and behavior modification [4].

A 6-month study in the Journal of Obesity found that most participants had lost weight and lowered their BMI by the end of the study period [5].

Who Should Buy Alli Weight Loss Aid?

Alli OTC Weight Loss Aid is a suitable product for any adult who is either diagnosed as obese with a BMI of 30 or over, or who is overweight with a BMI of 27 or more. People who have health risks like high blood pressure and diabetes should also consider this product.

Once you have fallen lower than 27, you should stop the medication. Naturally, approval by a physician must precede taking this product.

What Do the Alli Weight Loss Aid Reviews Say?

I read through numerous customer reports, and I found that most of the Alli Orlistat Weight Loss Aid reviews had good things to say about this product and many loved its fat-blocking abilities and how much weight they lost.

However, not all of the feedback was positive, and there were some customers who said the pills did very little for them. I selected a few of the reviews for your interest:

Alli has Helped Me Lose 88 Pounds

Alli is not a magic bullet, but with the proper diet and exercise, it has helped me lose 88 pounds. Yes, there can be unwanted side effects if you eat too much fat (gas and oily stools mainly). But knowing those side effects would happen if I ate too much fat kept me away from really fatty meals. I will continue to take this as I try to lose my last 20 pounds or so.

Good Product, Awful Side Effects

So it definitely empties you out, which makes me feel like it’s helping me when I cheat. I read a lot of the reviews which chastise those who eat fat despite the warnings that fat is what triggers the side effects.

However, even after not taking the pill for 2 days, I still had the oily, orange stool. Let me tell you, it also makes you gassy. The reviews aren’t lying when they tell you not to pass gas. You will have an accident. So I have mixed feelings overall about this product.

Works Well With Diet and Exercise

I’ve been taking Alli on and off for 10 years. It definitely helps shed extra pounds, but you have to be careful to not eat too much fat in one sitting (see other writings about fatty deposits).

I tend to use it when I eat too much — and I sometimes eat more because I know that the Alli will reduce the number of calories I consume. So for me, it’s a crutch. It’s not dangerous, and it’s not a stimulant, so that’s good! If I had more willpower, I wouldn’t need the Alli.

Conclusion

Alli Orlistat 60mg Capsules Weight Loss Aid is an FDA approved OTC weight loss pill which includes the primary active ingredient orlistat. It’s meant for people who have a BMI of over 27 or who suffer from health risks like diabetes and high blood pressure. Unfortunately, it’s not suitable for a vegan or vegetarian diet, and the company does use animals in their research.

According to the many that I read, the Alli Weight Loss Aid reviews include a range of opinions. A number of users liked the product and got significant weight loss benefits from it, but most recommend that you should speak to an RDN first for diet planning.
