Coffee Grounds

The health benefits and adverse effects of coffee have been debated by health experts for decades. For a long time, coffee drinkers were cautioned to regulate coffee intake if it could not be substituted for something else like cocoa. Coffee, earlier findings pointed out, was found to cause hypertension and cardiovascular diseases.

How Coffee Grounds Help?

In recent years, the antioxidant content of coffee has cleared its reputation for causing health problems, and once again coffee enjoys the spotlight for contributing many health benefits. Researches have shown that coffee, in fact, contains more antioxidants than do cranberries. For which reason, coffee is used as a main ingredient in many topical skin solutions like cellulite creams and stretch marks creams. Experts are still investigating whether or not coffee has indeed resulted to a visible improvement in the appearance of damaged skin.

Nevertheless, the protective property of antioxidants found in coffee already is sufficient evidence of coffee’s health benefits and its potential to firm up your skin. Antioxidants help our bodies fight free radicals that are ingested or which are found naturally in our surroundings. Among its many benefits, antioxidants help the body fight cancer and minimize skin ageing.

So, if you want an all-natural, homemade remedy for stretch marks, you can always run to your kitchen and snatch the coffee grounds in the cupboard. Here’s what you will do with your coffee grounds to turn these into an instant beauty to improve the appearance of your stretch marks:

Step 1: Mix the Coffee Grounds With Warm Water. Unless you will be using filtered coffee grounds straight from your coffee maker, you need to mix your coffee grounds with warm water. This will help ease application to your skin later.

Step 2: Mix the Coffee Grounds With Aloe Vera Gel. Aloe vera gel has been hailed as a highly effective moisturizer for hair and skin. Mixing your coffee grounds with aloe vera will help thicken your solution some more. In case aloe vera is not available, you can always substitute olive oil, virgin coconut oil, sunflower oil or, other mineral or essential oils.

Step 3: Apply the Coffee and Aloe Vera Paste to Your Skin. As soon as you have mixed your solution, apply it to areas of your body that have stretch marks. Massage in your solution and let it stay on your skin for at least 15 to 20 minutes. If desired, apply a steamed towel to help stimulate affected areas, and help open up your pores for better skin absorption.

Step 4: Wipe the Paste Away With a Damp Cloth. Clear the affected area with damp cloth.

Step 5: Moisturize the Skin Where Your Stretch Marks are Located. You have better chances of minimizing your stretch marks if you keep your skin hydrated. After drying the affected area, apply a moisturizer or, you may also prefer applying other essential oils and minerals.

Step 6: Repeat the Coffee Treatment Daily. It takes time to rebuild the damaged collagen fibers which your skin lost. A one-time application simply will not do. The process needs to be repeated for at least two weeks before you see any visible improvements on your stretch marks.

Filtered coffee in your favourite cup, and used ground coffee beans on your skin every morning can surely perk you up on your way to a healthy, stretch mark-free skin.
