How Does Remifemin Work?

Black cohosh extract, the active ingredient in Remifemin has been clinically proven to reduce common symptoms of menopause by up to 70% after 12 weeks. It has also been shown to improve sleep patterns after just eight weeks; specifically speaking, study subjects who were given black cohosh extract reported waking up feeling less groggy after taking this supplement regularly during the time of the clinical study.

Remifemin tablets are to be taken one tablet at a time, both in the morning and in the evening; this makes for a total of two Remifemin tablets per day.

A reduction in symptoms of menopause should be noticeable within “a few weeks” of taking Remifemin regularly, but women are advised to take this menopause relief supplement for at least 4 to 12 weeks in order to enjoy full benefits. User reviews do not appear to be currently featured on Remifemin’s website.

Ingredients In Remifemin – Are They Safe & Effective?

Remifemin’s formula includes black cohosh extract from the root and rhizome, equivalent to 20 mg per serving. Other ingredients in Remifemin are lactose (milk), cellulose, potato starch, magnesium stearate, and natural peppermint flavor.

Cellulose

Research shows that cellulose, is an insoluble fiber that does not dissolve in water. Insoluble fibers, when ingested, can help transport food through the digestive system and promote regular bowel movements. In addition to aiding digestion, dietary fibers such as cellulose may enhance health in other ways.[1]

Potato Starch

Microbes in the colon convert resistant starch into short-chain fatty acids (SCFA). SCFAs, particularly butyrate, are the colon cells’ primary energy source. Increased blood flow to the colon stimulates intestinal motility, which helps to alleviate constipation.

Magnesium Stearate

Magnesium is essential for good health at all stages of life. It is critical during menopause to maintain bone strength and prevent osteoporosis, or bone weakening. Magnesium may also help with menopausal symptoms including insomnia and depression, as well as maintain heart health.

Final Verdict

The clinical studies that have been conducted on the key ingredient in Remifemin provide a reason to believe that this vitamins after menopause should be able to offer relief from menopausal issues, just like it is claimed to do. However, it is still disappointing that Remifemin is not endorsed by a satisfaction guarantee, and because of this issue Remifemin cannot be given “five stars.”

    Remifemin for hot flashes
This is the first time in years that I found a place to submit a review – I took Remifemin for a couple of years for hot flashes. I purchased it at Walgreens and it seemed to work – soon I was experiencing joint pain and then one day I had excruciating pain in my left upper arm.

I wondered if I had fibromyalgia and then thought about what things I had been doing differently and decided the only different thing was taking the Remifemin. I never took it again and haven’t had any more issues.

  2. Kathy Holman-Transue

    Works as stated on box.
I have been using Remifemin for a few years. I wanted nothing to do with taking anything with Estrogen in or anything addictive. I also had to have something that would not interfere with my current meds for HTN and Asthma. I Have had great results and absolutely no side effects.
