How Does Step One Foods Work?

Step One Foods works by leveraging the power of carefully selected ingredients and their impact on cholesterol levels. The brand’s products are formulated based on scientific research and knowledge about the relationship between certain nutrients and cholesterol management.

Step One Foods snacks, including bars and smoothie mixes, incorporate specific ingredients chosen for their potential to naturally lower cholesterol levels. These components encompass plant sterols, soluble fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants, among others. Together, these elements constitute the best supplement to reduce cholesterol, as each plays a crucial role in supporting heart health and optimizing cholesterol profiles.

According to Jillian Kubala, MS, RD, Nutrition plant sterols, for example, are naturally occurring compounds that have been shown to reduce cholesterol absorption in the body. By incorporating plant sterols into their products, Step One Foods aims to help block the absorption of dietary cholesterol, leading to lower overall cholesterol levels[1].

Soluble fiber, another key ingredient found in Step One Foods, can help reduce low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, often referred to as “bad” cholesterol. Soluble fiber acts by binding to cholesterol in the digestive system and aiding in its removal from the body[2].

Omega-3 fatty acids, commonly found in fish and flax-seed, have been associated with various cardiovascular benefits, including reducing inflammation and improving lipid profiles. By including omega-3 fatty acids in their snacks, Step One Foods contributes to the overall heart-healthy composition of their products[3].

Antioxidants, which are often abundant in fruits and vegetables, help protect against oxidative stress and inflammation [4], both of which can contribute to cardiovascular disease. By incorporating antioxidant-rich ingredients into their snacks, Step One Foods aims to provide additional cardiovascular support.

By consuming Step One Foods products as part of a balanced diet, individuals can introduce these cholesterol-lowering ingredients into their routine. However, it’s important to note that while Step One Foods can be a helpful component of a heart-healthy lifestyle, it is always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice and guidance on managing cholesterol levels effectively.

  1. Nancy Blackmore

    Dissatisfied with product
I have been on the Step 1 apple bars for one month and I just did my lab and my HDL dropped almost in half which is really bad and my LDL was not changed and still the number is not good. My triglyceride level went up about 20 points and the only difference was at my cholesterol went down about 30 points.

I am more concerned about my LDL and HDL and it’s very disappointing that the HDL level dropped almost in half which is very very bad. The bars taste good but I think it’s very expensive because if you eat two bars a day that is six dollars so it’s almost $200 a month.

It’s a lot of money especially now where I don’t have significant changes and almost my lab report is a lot worse than it was before I started eating these bars. So disappointed!

  2. Evlin

Not only are their snacks and meals delicious, but they’re also packed with all the right nutrients to support my heart health. I’ve noticed increased energy levels and a significant improvement in my overall well-being. Thank you, Step One Foods, for creating such a fantastic line of products that make taking care of my health easy and enjoyable!
