It turns out that the American company that is known to produce the most potent CBD from superior plant genetics, Terravidaonline, has recently received public endorsement from a prominent Doctor in Florida.

Clearly this CBD brand is a favorite with Doctors across the US. Dr. Deepa Verma told Jpost that she buys CBD from Terravidaonline and pointed out that selecting a reliable product is important in order to avoid products that may have been compromised [1].

There appears to be major concerns with cheap Chinese CBD that may have been exposed to pesticides. In addition, the majority of Chinese soil is usually contaminated by nearby industrial areas, making a strong case for Doctors and consumers who refuse to buy anything other than CBD made in the US.

A recap on what cannabidiol is:
Cannabidiol, mostly known as CBD oil, is the major active ingredient found in hemp, a plant of the cannabis family. It is extracted and sold as CBD oil, powder or crystals. It is well known in the natural health world as a very effective remedy for many problems without side effects and without producing a “high.”

CBD is being researched all over the world. Scientists now know that it seems to enhance the body’s ability to use more of its own cannabinoids and this is how it manages to have many health effects discussed below.

1. CBD Relieves Menopause Symptoms

Estrogen is one of the hormones that enable proper endocannabinoid system function. It is possible that the health problems that come with menopause arise from reduced endocannabinoid activity due to declining estrogen levels in the body. Research has found that CBD has the potential to relieve vitamins for menopause symptoms to overcome.

  • Loss of bone density. Research has found that CBD interacts with certain receptors in the body to prevent bone loss and prevent osteoporosis.
  • Hot flashes. CBD is believed to increase the levels of anandamide, an endocannabinoid, and as a result the body is better able to control temperature.
  • CBD also helps to relieve insomnia, pain, anxiety, and mood swings. See below.

2. Pain Relief and Anti-inflammatory Properties

Cannabis has been used for centuries for pain relief and it is being studied in many countries. Human studies have found it to be an effective pain reliever for people undergoing chemotherapy.

In a laboratory study involving rats and mice and published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, CBD significantly reduced chronic pain and inflammation[2]. In one study involving 177 people with cancer-related pain that could not be relieved by allotropic pain medication, a combination of THC and CBD brought significant pain relief [3].

Nabiximols (Sativex), a drug approved in the United Kingdom and Canada for multiple sclerosis pain, is made from a combination of THC and CBD. CBD alone or combined with THC may be used extensively in the future for chronic pain.

3. CBD for ADHD

CBD relieves symptoms of ADHD but it will not eliminate the underlying cause. CBD enables the brain to “level out” and run more smoothly with more focus and less distraction. However, once you stop taking it, the effects wear off and the brain reverts back to its usual state of imbalance.

Therefore, those who want to benefit from CBD have to continue using it indefinitely. That should not be a problem since ADHD sufferers take drugs all their lives. Luckily CBD is not addictive and barely causes side effects. Compared to regular ADHD medications, CBD only causes dry mouth, which most users consider a small price to pay for the benefit of controlled ADHD symptoms.

4. Treatment of Diabetes

CBD may turn out to be diabetes remedy of the future. In one study involving people with type 1 diabetes and published in Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation, CBD eased the inflammation in the pancreas. N.B. type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks pancreatic tissue cells [4].

CBD can also reduce insulin resistance by reducing inflammation in people with type 2 diabetes, reversing the disease. This leads to a better prognosis for type 2 diabetes sufferers.

5. Alleviation of Arthritis Symptoms

Because of its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, CBD reduces can be used as a remedy for rheumatoid arthritis. Research is ongoing.

6. Fibromyalgia and other Autoimmune Disorders

Fibromyalgia cannot be cured but many people have turned to CBD to make the pain and discomfort milder and less frequent. A 2013 review found that CBD relieves pain caused by fibromyalgia and other conditions. CBD reduces inflammation with barely any side effects and it may be the new remedy for fibromyalgia and other autoimmune diseases.

7. Insomnia Treatment

CBD reduces anxiety and that reduces sleep difficulties and improves sleep quality and quantity. In studies, it reduced insomnia in people who suffered from chronic pain and it safely relieved anxiety and insomnia in children with post-traumatic stress disorder.

It also reduced REM behavior disorder in people suffering from Parkinson’s disease and those with post-traumatic stress disorder. REM behavior disorder causes people to physically act out during dreaming and REM sleep.

8. Bipolar Disorder

Many bipolar sufferers have found relief from their symptoms by using CBD and that comes without any side effects. This is due to its neuroprotective and antioxidative properties. A study published in Current Pharmaceutical Design confirmed[5] that it is effective for the relief of symptoms of bipolar and schizophrenia. Other studies found that it has the same anti-psychotic effects as allotropic drugs used to treat mental imbalances.

9. Epilepsy

Cannabis has been used traditionally to treat epilepsy. It can also treat neuronal injury, neurodegeneration and psychiatric diseases that are linked to epilepsy. Studies have confirmed the anti-seizure properties without side effects. Now that cannabis is legal in the US and many other countries, patients who did not respond to allotropic medication can benefit.

10. Alleviation of High Blood Pressure

CBD is a very effective remedy for high blood pressure. In one recent study, 10 healthy men were given 600mg of CBD oil in one dose and their resting blood pressure went down lower that in those given a placebo.

11. Cancer Treatment and Prevention

Scientists are looking at CBD as an anti-cancer agent due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties. In a review published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, CBD seems to prevent the spread of cancer cells around the body, in some cases to totally prevent cancer cells from occupying an area, to suppress the growth of cancer cells and even destroy cancer cells. It can do all this without any toxicity.

12. Treatment of Neurodegenerative Diseases

CBD can prevent Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases due to its anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective and antioxidant properties. In an initial research published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, CBD managed to prevent loss of the ability to recognize faces of acquaintances.

This is the first evidence that CBD can potentially prevent Alzheimer’s disease symptoms. More research is required on all the neurodegenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
