Bromelain can be found in many nutritional supplements, specifically those geared toward reducing inflammation and joint pain. This powerful nutrient is also naturally occurring in fruit such as pineapple.

It is originally from South America and commonly used by the Hawaiian population for medicine for centuries. It is commonly used as a natural way to aid in digestion and reduce or heal allergies and their symptoms.

Bromelain has several medicinal properties and it has been specifically used to treat swelling and inflammation. It also has been shown through research to prevent blood clots and edema.

Bromelain Fights Cancer Cells

Research has discovered the natural anti-cancer benefits of bromelain including stopping tumor growth and metastasis of cells by lowering the platelet aggregation. Cytotoxicity is a term used to describe the dying off of cancer cells, once study shows that cytotoxicity was increased after taking bromelain regularly.

These finding were mainly in lung cancer and breast cancer but not limited to only those types of cancers.

Recommended Supplement Dosage

The daily recommended supplement dosage ranges from 200-2000mg. per day. The most common dosage is around 500-800 mg. but you should aim for the higher recommended milligrams when trying to heal from surgery, or promote cytotoxicity of cancer cells.

Research showed that pain levels in those suffering from joint pain specifically osteoarthritis decreased by 60% in those consuming 650 mg. of bromelain daily. This is a safe alternative to traditional anti-inflammatory medications.

There is additional research showing that bromelain has a positive effect on weight loss efforts due to its ability to reduce triglyceride formation and fat cell formation.
