How to Get Rid of Puffy Eyes in 6 Ways

Under eye puffiness is also known by eye bags, or dark under eyes. Here are a few ways by which you can get rid of eye bags completely.

How to Eliminate Puffy Eyes

Both women and men are sensitive about their appearance. The first area where you can notice the effects of aging or tiredness is the zone around the eyes.
One of the most common problems are the so-called puffy eyes which are troubling people of all age groups and sexes throughout the world.
Puffy eyes can be caused by different symptoms – you may have allergies or pink eye or you may have simply been crying. Not taking your contact lenses off, aging, improper nutrition, and excessive alcohol are also among the symptoms of this problem.
However, the most common one seems to be a lack of sleep[1]. Regardless of what causes them, let’s see some effective tips on how to eliminate puffy eyes.

1. Cucumbers

You have probably seen a photo of women holding cucumbers over their eyes (or even know them in person). It is because cucumbers have incredible antioxidant power and they are an excellent solution for puffy eyes.
For improved efficiency, make sure that the cucumber was refrigerated[2] for a while. Just put a slice over each eye and keep for approximately 20 minutes. You may even allow yourself to take a quick nap while cucumbers work their magic on reducing puffiness.

2. Chilled Water and Tea Bags

This is a cool trick that you can use to revitalize your eyes while you are on a vacation on a business trip. Once you finish your tea in the morning, put the used tea bags in cold water and let them cool down in the fridge for at least a couple of hours.
Next, take the chilled tea bags out and place one on each eye for approximately 20-30 minutes. It may require a bit of time and patience, but once you check yourself out in the mirror, you will realize that it was worth it.
Alternatively, you can use only iced water but you will also need a couple of stainless steel spoons to perform this beauty trick. Make sure that the water is ice cold and place a spoon in it.
Next, put the spoon over your eye. As soon as you notice it is not cold anymore, switch with the other spoon that has been cooling in the water. Repeat the process several times before moving on to the other eye.

If you do not have any of the above options or you are looking for an alternative to mix and match, consider potatoes. Since cold is essential to reducing puffiness, you should also put potatoes in the fridge for several hours before using them.
Once they are cool, slice them in halves. Apply them slowly to your eyes so that you do not feel uncomfortable and leave to act for about 15 minutes.

4. No Makeup Allowed in the Bed

Each woman has committed this sin at least once in her life. Either a tiring day or an excellent party is behind you and nobody wants to take off their make in those situations.
However, leaving it on overnight is bad for your skin in multiple ways. Among other things, it also can lead to puffiness under your eyes in the morning and that is not the first thing you want to see when you get up.

5. Get Enough Sleep

The interesting thing is that lack of sleep doesn’t directly cause puffy eyes. However, if you do not have a proper sleep pattern, puffiness will be far more noticeable.
It is believed that approximately seven to nine hours[3] of sleep is enough every night and the exact amount depends on an individual.
Another tip that you may consider is to try to sleep on your back. If you are positioned on your stomach, it can lead to fluid retention and that may be the cause of puffiness. If it is uncomfortable at first, consider placing an additional pillow below your head.

6. Grab an Anti-Aging Supplement

There are many skin care solutions out there that particularly focus on the area around your eyes. You can try various serums, creams, and even gels so that you can find the perfect fit for your skin.
Keep in mind that these will revitalize the skin and promote its long-term health, but they usually need a while to deliver noticeable results.
Antioxidants, vitamins, peptides, hyaluronic acid, are some of the components that may help to rejuvenate the skin and make it look more youthful.
Keep in mind that the products need to be suitable for your skin type and ensure to carefully read the ingredient list to avoid potential allergic reactions.

*All individuals are unique. Your results can and will vary.

When we listed the tips on how to eliminate puffiness, we focused on two things – showing you how to instantly decreased their visibility and improve your appearance, but also giving you insights on tactics used to remove tea bags permanently.
