You already know that a healthy diet plays a significant role in your complexion. Consider this- or rather, remember this- the skin, otherwise known as the epidermis, is considered the largest organ in the human body. Just something to think about right off hand.
So, here we’ve compiled a list of the top foods that will benefit your skin health- in other words, what to eat more of this fall to keep your skin healthy!
Almond Milk – Full of Vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin which is especially good for the tissues in the skin, hair and nails as they use this for oxygen. Furthermore, almond milk contains essential fatty acids that which control* the amount of oil secreted by your pores.
Carrots – You already knew carrots are full of vitamin A but did you know this is one of the most important foods for your skin with their betacarotene content. Beta carotene is a form of provitamin (A) that can be converted into vitamin A by the body as a product of the metabolism, not to mention the numerous studies that have shown dietary beta carotene is effective against ultraviolet radiation damage.
Coffee – Here’s something to think about, if you don’t drink coffee, maybe you’d like to start. If your doctor tells you to drink less* coffee, well, it’s always important to listen to your doctor, but you can tell him/her that a recent study suggests that drinking a lot of coffee could reduce* your risk for developing cancerous melanoma.
The study lasted over ten years leading study authors to believe that coffee contains some super special compounds (including caffeine) that, at least according to studies, appear to fend off cancer in a few different ways including suppressing cells that turn cancerous in the sun.
Eggs – Rich in two key skin smoothing ingredients…. Choline and lutein.
Choline is a member of the B vitamin family -essential for healthy skin.. Choline also helps your body maintain proper levels of other B vitamins. This is super important because your skin needs B vitamins to produce* energy and manufacture collagen and elastin, major components of the skin.
Grass Fed Beef – Omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids are known to reduce* inflammation- grass fed beef is full of these, not to mention the nearly 30 grams of protein per 3.5 ounce serving. Keep in mind that protein is the building block of collagen and elastin tissue, the key components in keeping your skin tight and therefore less* wrinkled.
Kale – As you may already know, Kale juice has a lot more antioxidants than most other leafy greens. But there’s another reason to fill up on water over other drinks: Sugars are found in juices, sodas, and sports drinks which can attach to proteins in collagen.
