How Adding These Foods In My Diet Cleared My Acne?

Acne is a plaguing skin disease that causes breakouts and scarring – how frustrating!

Although acne ranges in intensity, it can be unbearable for the sufferer at any level. That’s why it’s important to maintain a healthy diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables, a few in particular for acne prone skin.

Let’s talk about these Fruits and Vegetables

We’re looking for nutrients like Beta Carotene, Vitamin A, and other vitamins that support* a healthy immune system, furthermore, protecting the skin. Here’s a list of fruits and vegetables and their corresponding nutrients! –

Vitamin A

Pumpkins loaded with nutrients like beta carotene (which neutralize free radicals). The seeds are also rich in amino acids and vitamin B. One might even try a pumpkin skin face mask to help clear up acne and scarring.

1. Carrots – Best known for the Vitamin A and betacarotene.

2. Sweet Potatoes – Best known for the vitamin A and betacarotene

3. Papayas – The enzyme papain contained in this fruit breaks down inactive proteins and eliminates* dead cells.

4. Cantaloupes – Contains a wide variety of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory phytonutrients, not to mention some more beta carotene.

5. Peaches – I like the magnesium factor in Peaches because we know this is good for the skin but peaches are also full of vitamin C, vitamin K, beta carotene, potassium and selenium which helps to protect* the skin from UV rays.

6. Mangoes – Beside the skin benefits, mangoes have been found to prevent certain cancers, improve* eye health and even helps to fight heat stroke.

Antioxidants

7. Spinach – This leafy green is full of potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium and omega 3 fatty acids… all good for skin, and don’t forget the antioxidants.

8. Raspberries – Whoa, use them as a face mask and they’ll help to reduce* wrinkles! They also protect* against the sun’s UV rays.

9. Apples – You might not know that copper is good for your skin, but it is… all minerals are, remember the magnesium? – anyway, an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

10. Avocados – Think about this, Avocados are rich in vitamin E and also a good source of vitamin C which is known to reduce* skin inflammation and it’s a natural skin moisturizer too.

Vitamin C

Broccoli – This super food is full of vitamins A, B Complex, C, E, and K! That’s a whole boatload of antioxidants too.

Sweet Potatoes – Best known for the vitamin A and beta-carotene, and now vitamin C too!

So Vitamin A is found in high concentrations in orange vegetables (and fruits) as you’ll notice from our list. It’s good for acne because it helps clear up breakouts by drying excess oil and reducing* inflammation.

Antioxidants are powerful, and they’re found in fruits and vegetables… the antioxidants are known to help rid blemish-causing bacteria from your body. These powerful antioxidants not only help kill the bacteria but also fight free radicals, which cause aging and even cancer.

As we already know, vitamin C is good for inflammation of the skin, but it helps to restore and build the collagen in your skin, which helps prevent and heal acne scarring.

The real truth is, ladies and gentlemen, you need to eat right and exercise regularly to remain a healthy human being. These fruits and vegetables are great to help with acne. They should be good enough for you to eat all the time…

And because the title of this article is how adding these fruits & vegetables to MY diet cleared my acne, I tried a few things… I started with broccoli, it’s just too good to pass up. After just one week of consuming broccoli every day, there was a noticeable difference in my skin, although the acne wasn’t completely cleared up – the scarring rather was still there.

This is where I want to add my own personal face mask to help you reduce* your acne symptoms. Don’t forget to eat these almighty foods we’ve discussed but also remember the following ingredients:

Honey, Lemon, Coconut Oil and Baking Powder Mix equal parts (very little) into the palm of your hand and scrape onto your face as a mask. Wear it as long as you can… The antioxidants in the Honey will begin to heal your skin, the lemon will help draw out other, left over blemishes and the coconut oil and baking powder will hydrate and exfoliate at the same time.

I also learned of a great quick recipe recently involving spinach – Simply saute a head of fresh spinach in the fry pan with butter and lemon. It’s delicious and good for you too!

Broccoli worked for me but this list is full of good help. What’s working for you?
