Question: I have osteoarthritis and have also had surgery on one of my knees. I try to be as active as possible, but obviously it can cause me a lot of pain if I overdo it. I’ve tried a few different pain medications, including aspirin which upsets my stomach. I’m not fond of taking pills so I thought I should try Flexicose which is a liquid. Are there any advantages to taking a liquid instead of a pill?
Answer: The makers of Flexicose believe that a liquid formula will be absorbed into the body more efficiently and therefore start working quicker that a capsule. If anything, a liquid medication is great for anyone who cannot or does not like to swallow pills.
Most key ingredients in pain relievers are very similar, usually combining the powerful pairing of Glucosamine and Chondroitin. When used together, these natural substances work to increase synovial fluid and build cartilage in the joint. As we age, our body’s ability to repair damaged cartilage and produce fluid diminishes greatly, leading to broken down joint structure and inflammation.
Some pain relievers use only hyaluronic acid or a fatty acid in the formula to simply oil the joint which, although helping to cut down on friction and damage, does not repair and build cartilage. Using a brand that combines all aspects of joint health is recommended as not only will this relieve the current pain, but also help prevent further problems. Formulas should contain rutin, trypsin and bromelain as their properties have been shown to be as effectives as NSAIDs in relieving pain and improving joint function.
There are numerous choices in the joint support category containing vastly different formulations. You should do your research on the different formulas prior to making your choice. You will find not all products are created equal. You should find one that contains the quality and quantity of necessary ingredients to positively effect change and relief of pain.
